Weapons for each Stat?
Hey guys, new player here.. Is there a list somewhere that tells you what weapon(s) corresponds to what Stat? I really wish this was listed on the advancement screen but it isn't.

The only way I can think of to find out myself (I'd rather not if I can avoid it) is to create a new game and just use it as a personal reference using that first point to unlock a weapon and see what Stat it uses..

Bows and Javelins
Primary - Perception
Secondary - Wisdom and Destiny

Spears, Axes, Hammers and Swords (all one-handed and two-handed)
Primary - Strength
Secondary - Intelligence and Mysticism

Wands
Primary - Destiny
Secondary - None

Relics and Artifacts
Primary - Wisdom and Destiny
Secondary - Intelligence, Mysticism and Perception

Scrolls and Codexes

Melee and ranged are easy: they use strength and perception respectively. (Except in some cases a weapon can have an additional use in yellow or purple challenges, in which case it uses another stat - that won't be relevant until the lategame)
For weirder weapons like artefacts and scrolls, it's generally a mix of the four other stats so that's where you'll have to trial and error it a bit. Maybe there's a Steam guide with more details? Not sure.

I think it would be best if the "Design mode" of the crafting bench let you try stuff that you haven't unlocked to let player really find out what they want to build.

That would be nice as well. I've checked the guide section recently but only saw one guide talking about what weapons do what and damage values.

I may just bite the bullet, start a run and save points, then just make a simple picture show for it.

I was sort of hoping someone smarter and not as lazy had already done it though lol

I haven’t seen a guide yet.

Some of them I just deal with on the fly.

But I’ve memorized a few for convenience.

One handed artifacts with leather/leather are usable in all three challenge types and use all three secondary ability scores. They are good for gatherers, especially elf gatherers. They are kind of like multipurpose blunt weapons (similar splash) that work well with elemental armor and shields, turning a character into a multipurpose support combatant for all challenge types. They also add a flat damage boost, which helps unspecialized characters like gatherers.

Spears (maybe all weapons?) created as elemental weapons with higher level wood will gain the ability to be used in social challenges, and some true damage. They retain the spear traits when used in this way, if I recall. These are good for certain classes that get good strength and intelligence bonuses. Some craftsmen luck into that. I think bandits or one of the similar classes get this, the melee version of a robber, whatever it’s called. It can also be useful for a while for children who grow up weird- I once had a kid grow up to be a healer after leveling rapidly as a child, and in the leveling process he gained +4 strength. So, I gave him one of these spears and some good armor and used him as a switch hitter.

Books can be jury rigged to only use mysticism regardless of challenge type. I think leather does that. Useful if you know your character will have a mysticism advantage rather than destiny.

That happens when you craft an elemental weapon (and not a relic or scroll, because those follow different rules) with either stone + wood or gem + bone essences. If your two essences are of the same color, then the weapon will be useable in challenges of that color - but it uses another stat, not Strength, so pure Warriors are still kinda garbage in non-physical challenges. Especially compared to Hunters who can have innate skills that scale off Perception in all three challenges.

That's very helpful, thank you!

Bows and wands are really crappy in my testing. Anyone succeed with them?

It's possible to make a good wand, but it requires high tier resources. Like you need, if I remember right, cross-type resources that cover metal and leather. Wands can't have leather by default so you need a resource that's like metal and also leather. Well by good I mean it covers red, yellow, and purple challenge types.

You should never go higher than elemental when you have the leather essence effect.

You lose both multiplier and additive bonus.
