Game is too dark
Hey there. I am running this on my Macbook pro and everything is great except the game is way too dark. If I adjust the brightness slider, it brightens up for on second and then downgrades the brightness to the same dark level again. I have tried the console commands "r_overBrightBits" and "r_ignorehwgamma 0" to no effect. Any thoughts?

Not a one, but I have a similar problem with brightness. However, if i adjust mine it brightens up and stays that way until I leave the program. It irritates me to no end, and if there's a quick fix I'd greatly appreciate it if someone would answer this man/woman's question and help me out in the process. Thanks.

I had the same problem as OP. I had to click and hold down the slider and move it around a bit for teh brightness to actually change. Also like the second poster, I have to do this every time i start the game.

I've read this in a jk2 forum:
"For me I just had to run in compatibility for XP SP2 to fix r_gamma"
Changing over menu should work with that (r_gamma is just the cmd for console)

Sorry to revive a dead thread, but I found what solved this issue for me - if you have f.lux installed (great program btw), simply quit it before playing JKII and the brightness slider will immediately work.

Don't know if this'd solve the issue for everyone, but it worked for me on my Macbook Pro anyway, so hope it's somewhat helpful...

I had flux running too. Fixed the problem for me. Crusty_bagel, you are a gentleman and a scholar. Or a gentlewoman and a scholar. ...or would that be lady and a scholar? Point being: you're great.

Worked for me. But now my loading screens and the opening LA intro is white.

Thank you very much, I had the same issue, it was indeed related to f.lux running in background.

I am reviving this to say I have a potential fix for non-f.lux users:

1. Only use one monitor while playing

2. Launch the game without Steam Overlay. Make sure steam is open in the background - otherwise it will try to open through Steam when you launch - then go to your GameData folder in ...\Steam\Seamapps\Common\Jedi Outcast\GameData and launch jk2sp.exe from there. That will bypass the Steam Overlay which gave me some more fps and fixed my gamma slider.

I found the brightness slider acted like that for me only in full screen mode, the quickest fix is to run windowed. I tried to set up a "borderless" config by subtracting 26 pixels from my vertical resolution because windowed still makes you run it with the bar up top
