For the record, I'm using a Surface Pro (running Windows 8 Pro 64 bit) connected to an external monitor
================
Edit: Scratch that. AND SUCCESS! What I had to do was turn off one of the settings. Specifically, go to jk2sp.exe, go to the compatibility section, and turn on "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings." Then it works correctly. Hopefully this works for you.
Windows 8 sucks so far btw. I'm a jk2 mapper and my mouse locks onto the cieling like a heat seeking missile despite this being a new computer.
It's almost unsable so far.
From there, you right click on jk2sp.exe and do all your changes.
I actually like the system. The fact that it can't play a 10 year old game without some coaxing doesn't phase me. The mouse locking to the ceiling is another symptom of high DPI, by the way. It's just that these games weren't meant to be run on 1080p system.
Okay first of all to get to the gamefiles for jk2 if you have the steam version. Goto steam library right click jedi outcast on the list then click properties then local files then browse local files. You are now in the jedi outcast folder double click the folder titled "Gamedata" look inside there and you should find your jk2mp.exe and jk2sp.exe.
This is not a problem with windows 8.1 i know tons of people who have it including my self who get this game and jka working perfectly with no problems at all you people are legit the minority and you should be happy you can run this on a portable tablet at all.
If anyone has anymore problems with their jk2 feel free to add me and i can try to walk you through any fix you can unfriend me after words so we can stop having this discussion filled with fixes and questions about problems that have been solved already.
