jk2 won't work on windows 8 (title screen too big for my monitor kinda)
i have an apple monitor with 2560X1600 resolution. When jk2 starts it looks like I see about 1\16 of the totals start screen so I can't even select any options because they are off my screen. changing my resolution to lower didn't seem to help.

I'm using windows 8 which could be problem?

Hate to "me too" here, but I'm mostly just subscribing to this, because I'm interested in any resolution to this. Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast and Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy both have this problem.

For the record, I'm using a Surface Pro (running Windows 8 Pro 64 bit) connected to an external monitor

================

Edit: Scratch that. AND SUCCESS! What I had to do was turn off one of the settings. Specifically, go to jk2sp.exe, go to the compatibility section, and turn on "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings." Then it works correctly. Hopefully this works for you.

Where do I find jk2sp.exe? I open it through steam. when i go through windows 8 explorer thing I don't even see it... this OS is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up. When i do go through the steam option, it's about 1\16 or 1\32 and only way i can get out of it is control alt delete

Windows 8 sucks so far btw. I'm a jk2 mapper and my mouse locks onto the cieling like a heat seeking missile despite this being a new computer.

It's almost unsable so far.

For me, it was under C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Jedi Outcast\GameData

From there, you right click on jk2sp.exe and do all your changes.

I actually like the system. The fact that it can't play a 10 year old game without some coaxing doesn't phase me. The mouse locking to the ceiling is another symptom of high DPI, by the way. It's just that these games weren't meant to be run on 1080p system.

dru89's solution worked great for me btw. It worked on other applications\games as well at least for windows 8

Dru89, Bless you. Bless your soul. Bless your PC that it may continue to dominate life. I have spent hours trying to make edits in config files to get this game to work, and now I am able play this game for as ridiculously long as I wanted.

Okay stop talking bad about windows 8. First of all update your computer to windows 8.1. This is not a problem with windows 8.1 do not blame the os for having no knowledge at all about the os.

Okay first of all to get to the gamefiles for jk2 if you have the steam version. Goto steam library right click jedi outcast on the list then click properties then local files then browse local files. You are now in the jedi outcast folder double click the folder titled "Gamedata" look inside there and you should find your jk2mp.exe and jk2sp.exe.

This is not a problem with windows 8.1 i know tons of people who have it including my self who get this game and jka working perfectly with no problems at all you people are legit the minority and you should be happy you can run this on a portable tablet at all.

If anyone has anymore problems with their jk2 feel free to add me and i can try to walk you through any fix you can unfriend me after words so we can stop having this discussion filled with fixes and questions about problems that have been solved already.

@Fi, I have Windows 8.1 and I cannot see most of the screen. Only the top left half. I cannot open the Jasp.exe to change the settings because it just opens up the game and I still cannot see.
To "open" Jasp.exe I believe he means right-click and select properties, then go the compatibilty tab.

I am still having an issue. i have the resolution fixed, but the game stil crashes for jasp.exe
I'm attempting to get help on another thread also, if it comes in handy and fixes it I'll be sure to share it on here.
