STAR WARS™ Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast™

STAR WARS™ Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast™

What's all the hype about the GOG version?
Why is everybody saying that the GOG version is better? Just because it's DRM-free? Is that the only difference?

I suppose my question was about all SW games, not just Jedi Outcast. I personally would rather have them in my Steam account instead of hard copies on disc. Guess I'm just wondering how people see the GOG versions to be better.

I think the only advantages on GOG is that it's DRM free there and they guarantee it'll work on modern systems or money back.

No I actually wish i had that version, but this is what I got long time ago so this one I'm going to try to play soon, let's see how it goes.

I'll admit it wasn't easy getting them to all run on Windows 8.1. I had to Google how to modify some of them to run. I was pretty happy with the results for Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy however. Both games look fantastic in 1920x1080 resolution. Although, not so happy with the results of Dark Forces II and Mysteries of the Sith. Can't run the graphics edge to edge and the frame rate is horrible. The original Dark Forces I got running ok but the mod doesn't allow saving the game (other than the autosave at the end of each level). Haven't got KotOR working in 1920x1080 yet. I'll wait on the Xwing and Tie fighter bundle. Hoping it'll be 77% off next year.

The older ones, like JK and MoTSith require a lot of modding just to get running, and even then they will be bugged. From what I can tell, the later ones like this and JKAcademy will run through Steam without too much manipulation.
