Questions with installing OpenJO/OpenJK

After seeing Civvie11's recent video on this, I thought I would give this a try, as well as being one of the few Star Wars games I've played.

I think I've installed the patch correctly, but everything appears to still run the same. Am I missing something so that I can get it looking as good as the footage Civvie uses? Does OpenJK/OpenJO add additional graphics options, like FOV and filtering, or is that via a different mod?

I also notice that the game does some weird resizing when starting up and playing. Is there a way I can not have that happen?
