What do force crystals do?

I have played this game since i was 4 and i still don't know what they do?

IIRC, they refill your force.
It's a bit useless because force regenerates fast enough without needing an instant recharge.

there are several kinds of crystals. some are used in lightsabers, others mounted to armor to give force powers to stormtroopers basically.
