STAR WARS™ Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast™

Dismemberment
How do I activate dismemberment in such a way that it only happens upon a kill? Using the normal dismemberment cheat makes the lightsaber lethal even without swinging it.

try turning down dismemberment to 1, instead of 3 or whatever.

Navigate to base folder but first to get to your “gamedata” folder in JK2 and JKA you must go to your steam library, right click Jedi outcast or Jedi academy, then click properties (located in the context menu), now click the tab titled “Local Files” and then click the box titled "browse local files." If you followed these steps correctly you should see a folder pop up titled "Jedi Outcast" or "Jedi Academy" inside that folder there should be another folder titled "Gamedata" open that by selecting the folder and double clicking or select the folder and press enter key. Now you should see two “.exe” files one titled "jk2sp.exe" and "jk2mp.exe" (for JK2) or "jasp.exe" and "jamp.exe" (for JKA) Once you find them there should be a folder titled "Base" in gamedata open that up and find files titled "jaconfig.cfg" for sp and "jampconfig.cfg" for MP. Do not edit these configs because it will just revert.

Once you find them open wordpad (not notepad) and click the blue button titled "File" click save as "Rich text doc" then direct the save window to the "base" folder. Save the file as a .rtf file but when editing the name of the file name it "autoexec.cfg" (without " " ) Once it is saved there open the file up again and copy then paste this inside of it

seta helpusobi "1"
seta g_saberrealisticcombat "2"
seta g_dismemberprobabilities "0"
seta g_dismemberment "3"
seta cg_dismember "3"

Here is a guide to what these do change the numbers inside the " " to what ever you wish but it needs to be in that order.

Quick setting/value reference:

SP:

g_saberrealisticcombat //sharpness of lightsaber blade

0 (normal), 1 (higher damage), 2 (cuts parts off when damage is fatal), 3 (even touching the blade kills instantly)

g_dismemberment //how much can get sliced off

0 (nothing), 1 (hands, feet), 2 (hands, feet, arms, legs), 3 (hands, feet, arms, legs, head, torso)

g_dismemberprobabilities //how likely dismemberment is to happen

0 to 100 (the number being the chance in percentage)

MP:

g_dismember //disable/enable dismemberment

0 (disabled), 100 (enabled)

cg_dismember //how much can get sliced off

0 (nothing), 1 (hands, feet, arms, legs), 2 (hands, feet, arms, legs, head, torso)

After you pasted the strings edit the values and click the purple save floppy at the top left in wordpad. Once you get into game and start up a save it should work if it doesn't open console by using shift + tilde (the key to the left of one on the left side of the keyboard) and type this in /exec autoexec.cfg and it should work.

g_sabermorerealistic, g_corpseRemovalTime, and broadsword are unrecognized by Jedi Outcast.
My mistake some of those commands were JKA only. I have updated to be JK2 only commands.
I have created a guide for dismemberment! :)
g_saberrealisticcombat 1 dismembers on fatal hit.
g_dismemberprobabilities is actually 0-1 btw.. It links to the npc files where you can then determine the chance out of 0-100 of dismemberment occuring 😉

So.. can somebody simply paste the correct commands then? I am getting trouble making this work, just put the corrected commands, please.
To use the normal dismemberment mode and make it work on all fatal hits without change a lot the gameplay with "g_saberRealisticCombat 1", you can use Expanded Menu Mod and set dismemberment to "Full body" and frequency on "Excessive".

https://www.moddb.com/mods/jedi-outcast-expanded-menu/

I changed the dismemberment value to 100% on all NPC in the cfg file, with the probabilities cvar set to 100% (so "g_dismemberProbabilities" to "0" -> Excessive).

This is the only way to got the dismemberment works on a body part during a fatal hit with a probability of 100%. Except on German text version, you need to re-set the dismemberment cvar ("g_dismemberment") to "3" (Full body) in every new level.)

Good game ! :)
