Can someone please explain how to lightsaber duel in this game?!?!?!
From what everyone always says about how good and mechanical the lightsaber combat is in this game, I have to say I'm VERY disappointed so far. I'm not sure if I'm not getting something. (the fact that the game doesnt explain how to use anything is a sin on its own but nevermind that) I really don't understand how animation-based combat is supposed to be precise and even seem like a good mechanic. Add to the fact that you use the same buttons to move as to direct your lightsaber; it's actually super counter-intuitive. And I've tested all the "combos" people show in tutorials online, none of them work for me. Every swing with the saber is stil the same, the fact that they come one after another doesn't change anything. And everything's happening so fast during duels, it's impossible to react so quickly to the animations you see. People say the key is to gain and keep good momentum, always be moving and jumping, but how can I do all that without basically giving up control of my lightsaber swings? It's bullsh*t. People say one of the main things that makes lightsaber fights good in this game are the force powers, but they've been useless in duels for me so far. It seems like I just beat Desann's apprentice with sheer luck after about fifty attempts. Either I'm missing something BIG... or this game is extremely unimpressive.

Please, if you're good at this game and have a good understanding of how lightsaber fights work, explain to me. I really want to like this game, but so far I just don't get it. Honestly, the beginning sections where you only had a gun were more fun and actually understandable.

I'm not going to give you a long explanation to explain to you why it wouldn't work with text I'd literally have to show you in game and train you.

But here is a good video series on dueling https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRG1uLri03GEjgsZkkm7v4w/videos?disable_polymer=1

Then unless you'd like to be trained in game on how to properly duel I can't help you with text.

Hmm, I would like to try in-game training. I really don't want to give up on this game because I've heard so many good things about it and Jedi academy.

saw combos, thought this was jk3 for a minute.
a pretty good tip is to red swing right after the opponent red swings, step back so they miss, then step in so you hit.
i host 1.02, not steam's 1.04 so we cant play lol

Ahaha... I can understand the OP's point but watch this- which is an old version of the mod btw, then compare it with what the OP said, then challenge the claim of THIS game being the definitive lightsaber combat experience again..

Hey op,

So to answer your question the lightsaber combat, in both games, operates on a mouse + keyboard combination.

Basically if yoy move one way and your mouse another, you will get different attacks.

Some basic attacks you can practice, that where "beginner" moves, back in the day are:

In blue stance - crouch and then stand whilst moving forward and attacking. This results in an upward uppercut lile thrust, very effective quick attack.

In yellow stance - crouch then jumping in the same spot whilst attacking. This results in a jumping downward swipe, out to the side. A good counter move to a thrust like attack

In red stance - doing an attack, quickly jumping foward and attacking again. This results in a strong foward leap attack that drives the saber downward. If it lands it can sometimes one shot someone and use to be the "fighter fireball - ryu" back when the game was more popular.

Learning these moves will show you how the saber combat generally works as they are a kind of "special attack" for each stance however the do teach the basics of how the mouse + keyboard combat works.

-cheers
