I did most definitely NOT stop that train
Just lost a star in level 19 while not stopping any train because the game decided that I had done so. And that was right at the end with everything solved, after many tries. FRUSTRATING just doesn't start to define what I felt.

This game needs a toggle for those levels so we can decide to ABSOLUTELY NOT STOP TRAINS. It's way, waaaaaaay too easy to misclick a train and BAM, star gone with no way to fix it other than restart.

Also, even in pause, sometimes you stop a train just before it goes over a switch, and the "continue/reverse interface" won't let you click the switch unless you move out of the way. That has made me lose 2 or 3 times. A hotkey to make trains invisible and just click switches would be swell.

Apart from that, great game, not what I expected after the first one. I like it a lot too, but I do think that even if it's prettier, the interface and terrain are harder to read, slopes in particular. I hope it doesn't get worse.

Hello, @Caramon! Thanks for the interesting in the game. This problem worries many players. The point is that you don't have to complete all the challenges to complete a level. You can stop trains and not get one of the stars, after that the next level will become available to you. Special modes with the inability to stop trains will make the game impossible for people who, for various reasons, cannot avoid stopping the train. We tried to make our game not too difficult for those people who do not have a lot of gaming experience. Those who have gaming experience and want to get all the stars can practice and not stop trains :)
P.S. Sometimes I also accidentally stop the train unnoticed by myself. I understand your pain.

Oh, I know that I can go to the next level with one star less, but come on, show some respect for our OCDs, how could we go and do the next level having obtained any less than 5 stars? ;)

As I said, this could be an option or a hotkey, so people can play as usual, but those of us who BRAKE FOR NO ONE can avoid inadvertently or otherwise (I wasn't even touching the keyboard and the mouse when the game said that I had stopped a train, but no train stopped that I could see) losing that star.

Thanks for the quick response.

Also, while we are at it, a couple of times I have forgotten that I need to win x profits when I finished my other objectives, and I lost with 1-2 minutes to spare and 377/380 profits.

Just thinking it aloud, if there was a way for the game to ask "you still have one objective pending, are you sure you're done", it would be great.

I know it's not the easier thing to implement, but again, it's really frustrating when you've played a level several times, you've doing a fantastic job, and then you get only 4 stars because "ohhhhhhhhh, if you had only won 3 thousand dollars more"...

Having options (even if they're in some kind of advanced settings) make everyone happy. "Standard" users don't need to know that they exist ;)

Seriously, we need that "no braking" switch.
The number of times, just by force of habit, that I've hit the spacebar and dropped a star.

I'm with Caramon on the OCD front, and having just completed 4000 playing hours of the game, I know what not getting 5 stars feels like! ;)

Yeah, I had that happen a few times as well. Usually you can zoom in really far and then hopefully hit the track switch because the switch gets bigger and the train interface stays the same size.

Thankfully this (horrible) kind of challenge is only in 1 DLC level (and I would never play a workshop level with it), but I ended up rebinding spacebar because I didn't trust myself and didn't want to worry about it.

Some kind of failsafe would be nice that either blocks you from losing the star (disables pause/stop/reverse as long as a setting in the options is enabled) or at least asks for a confirmation the first time it happens. I get that it's part of the challenge, but I also feel that sometimes it just wastes your time which is never a good feeling for a game I want to play for fun.

OMFG, the misclicks are killing me here.

Please, DO SOMETHING.

Hello, @Caramon! We will try, but it won't be soon.

It is curious that someone with OCD tendencies would be prone to misclicking so much. Do you need a bigger monitor maybe?
Caramon Feb 1, 2021 @ 12:22am
Not the problem, sadly. I have a 32" monitor.

A clever solution would be to not count the train as stopped until it actually stops and the reverse button appears. After all, the condition says do not stop the train, not do not slow down the train.

It would be funny to use that to slow the trains without losing the star. A joker when you eff up and launch a train when you shouldn't! XD
