I've been interested in this for a while, but alot of the information about it i dont really understand. EG, what is the difference between client side and server side? do features like RGB and new hilts get added to single player as well or just multiplayer?

@GothFur I believe JA+ added the essential SP and MP enhanced features like when the sabers clang with the sleek spark sprites and healing sprites. JA+ also comes with some useful Admin and AntiCheat tools for the server. However I noticed that you need to activate JA+ client in order to play those JA+ servers. You can also download OpenJK that can fix any abandoned bugs too.
