Absolutely get this. Its a steal at this price.
I bought it but I honestly like the fact that there is no story in Slay the Spire. I just want more games that I can pick up and play.
Tainted Grail is a good game as well, but it's kind of less... of everything. Plus it has some serious performance issues.
So get both if you can (Tainted Grail maybe later when stuff is fixed) and Griftlands if you only want one for now.
Also really great, if you don't know about it yet: Monster Train. Probably still the best out of all of them (including StS), but that's just my opinion.
For the first time I'd actually suggest Slay the Spire, it's probably the easiest to understand.
Between those two... Monster Train is probably easier to understand then Griftlands since it has less external things going on (like the quests, relationships to others, the whole RPG vibe). It has a pretty clear structure and you know what to do and can concentrate on the cards.
But, again, StS is probably easiest to get into.
I played both and ultimately you should play both because they are good in their own ways. I think Tainted Grail is closer to your experience of SLS (despite many differences/additions) while Griftlands is half a story-based game. There are more new gameplay mechanics in Griftlands than in TG, but I found TG's combats more fun (there's also 9 classes instead of 3 for GL). Again, both are good games and quite cheap, so it's just about what do you want to play first.
@kuaikukia
I think Slay the Spire is overrated. Most of the games that came after mostly fixed the worst aspects of SLS: the grind and the huge RNG factor. Monster Train is extremely welcoming to new players to the genre and the progression system is the best in that genre IMO. There's also a good amount of variety. It's a great product.
That said, you shouldn't hesitate to begin by Griftlands if you're interested. It's easy to learn, there are characters, a story with choices, while Monster Train is all about mechanics. In my opinion you should get Griftlands and eventually buy Monster Train later if you like this genre because ultimately MT has more content and replayability I think.
Ah yes I did heard some reviewer mention about Monster train better than STS on some mechanic. Seems both MT and Griftlands easy to pick, then I might pick Griftlands first because looks more interesting
so...
I'll be avoiding any companies purchased by Tencent, who have direct ties to the Chinese Communist Party!
If you really cared you would have made sure.
But yeah, not too happy about Tencent buying Klei either, mostly due the possibility of deteriorating quality of their games, though. But Griftlands has been in development for a long time before they got bought, so even if there was an effect, it wouldn't be noticable yet.
