I was under the impression that Amazon ussually gave 2 weeks notice on the Prime pages before they stop allowing a title to be free. I didn't see any such message in this case, did anyone else?
Oh... the main page I got after it was reportedly discontinued was also kind of broken. It said that the title was no longer available on Amazon, but that wasn't true. When went back to Amazon's search page and look for it, I get two hits, one is the "No Longer Avaiable" page I mentioned, but the other is one that says it's available to "buy" or "rent", with the "rent" prices being $3.99 for either the HD or SD version. As a quick aside, it was also the first time I ever say anything with the same price for both HD and SD; the SD version of just about everything I've looked at is ussally exactly $1.00 cheaper.
