A lot of the cards do have long effect descriptions, but they're not hard to understand.
So I'll say to you what I say to everyone else who makes a complaint thread like this:
Don't play PvP if you aren't prepared or can't handle what you'll fight against
Yes it's hella complicated at times. They actually had to go and simplify the card texts (problem solving) for a ton of old cards to bring them up to modern standard. In some cases this seems to have been forgotten though. Once instance are cards that refer to "banishing" or "removing from play". Those are exactly the same thing but they didn't update the old stuff with the "banish" text.
Yu-Gi-Oh! is needlessly complicated, no disagreement there. But worth learning if one doesn't get too intimidated.
It took me 10 bloody years to learn the difference between "if" and "when". So yeah, you are in good company.
I don't win very much but its hilarious when I do.
Yugioh is also more interactive than any other card game thanks to trap cards(hand traps and quickplays too)..
Another factor is just understanding cards and how they interact.
You just have to study, like anything else in this world.
Madolche is about keeping you from decking out while exodia needs to be searched for. I don't picture constant shuffling would benefit an exodia strat.
Also, as Yugi once said in Pyramid of Light, there's more to power than just ATK points. Wall of Disruption and Enemy Controller are staples for a reason
Also, you need to understasnd english pretty good, so you can read card effect your enemy put out there on the field. This game is not easy, especially in PvP.
