I am in combat (nightmare difficulty) against stefano in the theater, but I can not go beyond this level.

I have passed the first "round", now there is also that kind of octopus in the sky that helps him.

despite all that I hit stefano, (helping me with the electric ball projectiles that immobilize him), I can not defeat him (they are also short of ammunition).

Is there any "trick" to kill him or do you need to "just" try to hit him?

when you hear his teleport sound, turn around rapidly to see where he teleport to.
when he teleport nearer to you, run away from him, as far as possible.
the only way to kill him is to shoot until he dies.
when he stop teleporting and start throwing knife, running toward you, shoot him.
when the giant eye start raising it tentacle. run to the opposite direction (rigt tentacle->run left etc...) and never stops until its tentacles hit the ground.
ammo constantly respawn on the spot where you pick them up. As long as you are in the opposite part of the room. So: pick ammo->run to opposite side->run back->pick ammo again.

Wait for him to start attacking you, only then shoot at him, else you waste ammo. You can avoid tentacles by just sticking near the walls with pictures.

Easy way is to wait until he attacks you, evade attack, and land few hits afterwards. He has small delay between attacking and teleporting.

I say use bullet time. it makes the fight so much easier. Just aim for his face.

There's a wall corner in the center of the room where if you put your back to it, you'll have a table to your right. If you just sit there with your shotgun the entire fight, it's super easy. Just wait for him to come to you and unload on him. I never had a problem with the tentacle since I never moved into it's line of sight and the table hilariously blocks the knives he throws at you

What you should do is hunker your back to one of the corner walls, that way the arms can't hit you and Stefano will never teleport behind you. Use your sawed off-shotgun (if you managed to get it at this point) whenever he gets close to attack. And remember the area constantly spawns ammo, so you should never really run out.
