If you've not modded the game before and you're willing to mod the game to get better, you should try this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/devilmaycry5/mods/369
It enhances the gameplay and combo potential, implementing mechanics from previous games such as allowing moves to generate Inertia, a significant mechanic in high-level combo play. There're plenty of training options also available via the mod that can allow you to train wherever instead of just being limited to the Void.
Are you struggling with DMC5 in *general*, or just with Dante?
The more I play dmc 5 though the more I come to figure it must be down to simple practice and timing. Things like V's walking stick stabby thing where he bounces from one to another and then the next each time you press the finisher button, or the max exceed when you attack are where I'm having the most trouble.
With Nero the majority of my difficulty comes from remembering the exceed button and to hit it when attacking, Dante is just a bigger version of that issue, there are so many things that I CAN do, that I often forget what I WANT to do.

Vergil's ironically one of the easier ones to play because of how his kit is less reliant on busywork, and rewards you having your basics down pat, while also having amazing evasion/closing abilities.
As long as Vergil isn't getting hit, and you're landing your attacks, your own performance is enchanced, and you can use his ultimate attacks to clear a room fairly easily.
For example?
Yamato Lifter
Aerial Rave B, stop before you do the final hit that slams the enemy into the ground
Switch to Beowulf
Aerial Lunar Phase
Switch to Mirage Edge
Helm Breaker
Stinger
Overdrive
Is my go to when I just want to isolate one guy, then come down to the ground and give myself some breathing room.
You're not alone. Dante and Nero are a different flavor of MLG Gaming that I cannot comprehend who demand you write a thesis, and have frame perfect reaction speed respectively to get the most out of them.
Dante is a Lego bucket where Nero and Co. are a set - you can get a little variety with them but you'll probably see a buncha Calibur and chargeshots where as Dante WILL be overwhelming. It's okay to feel like you suck at a character, and it's the willingness to learn that makes you good at the game.
One thing I did was exercising options (not necessarily in the Void either). If I'm air-comboing, maybe Ground Trick down instead of Mustang-ing or Helm Splitting. Even using Pole Play instead of Revolver to descend can get your noggin joggin' about possibilities to approach combat in this game. Understand your tools before you worry about juggling them.
