Is it just me or is nightmare a disappointing piece of trash ?
He is super slow hangs around for a few seconds seemingly doing nothing then dies. I tried mounting him but his attacks and movements are super slow and I cant even reach enemies. I know that there is a move that supposed to teleport him to an enemy but I'm not sure I was able to pull it off because he disappears very quickly.

His laser shot is super op even on SoS. I cant say that he pays for it with really slow speed though.

Well you can always just use dt for shadow and griffin or just use him to rez them.

I'm afraid it's just you. He IS slow, but insane damage more than makes up for that. I suggest you to upgrade your DT and get Trigger Heart as soon as possible to increase the time he can stay with you.

Also, don't forget about your book.

When he's mounted he will last longer, but every hit he takes will drain the devil meter. Unless he's in a good position, it's best to let him do his own thing most of the time.

It's generally best to summon him whenever one of the other two are down, since he'll instantly bring them back and make them invulnerable. He can also do a significant amount of damage just entering the area if he happens to land on an enemy.

If you want him to go to town then you're going to need a full devil meter or a safe position to get him started when you mount him. While mounted, his lasers (lock-on + forward + attack) are great at launching and stunning enemies so that you can start up his swing combos. He eventually gets a bigger, long-lasting laser attack (hold attack while teleporting), and if you trigger it just as the devil meter empties then he will continue to fire the laser well after the meter runs out.

Once fully upgraded, he is overpowered.

But overall, V is very boring to play with. Just mash buttons whilst reading book and casting Nightmare.

I haven't played around with Nightmare too much, but I've heard the best usage is mounting him, executing something with a lot of start up like illegal move > big laser, then jumping off and just doing your own thing.

V is garbage, period.

If he's okay, then DMC2 is okay.

Not sure how that is comparable to a whole game he has way more moves then both characters in dmc 2, I can agree he is boring to use.

Having way more moves doesn't make it better, he's still designed for button holding/mashing for hours and there's nothing interesting or stylish about that. Playing him is such a waste of time on lower difficulties and an absolute chore on SoS/DMD. Useless.

I mean that’s applied to all 3 characters different being you use pets to attack. Still not the worst thing although choosing character after beating the game would be preferred.

He is a well designed and detailed character, but his gameplay just dont fit in DMC.

Playing him is a chore, specially when you have Nero and Dante in the same game.

If he could turn into demons (like for example Bayonetta with panther within technique) instead just casting them, it would have been more fun to play with. Of course that would mean an overall character overhaul.

cant fault them for trying something new, he fits in the context of the plot at least, if Capcom does add new characters would prefer playing as Vergil for his stages.

Yep, unfortunately they didnt manage to make him interesting enough, gameplay wise.

The plot thing also feels forced. He is half Vergil but he doesnt look and act like him at all?
