Devil May Cry was always popular, we just didn't get a game in the series for the past 11 years.

no? it has been hyped for like a year now, and dmc fans like me were waiting for a true sequel since 2009.

also the current capcom positive streak from RE2, megaman 11 and monster hunter world did made people more excited for this game

Oh yeah, I forgot the capcom redemption arc, still waiting for legends 3 and x9 tho' :p

Yeah all I want from capcom now is to make another Breath of Fire game and I can die happy.

DMC is a genre-defining franchise and although it might be somewhat obscure to mainstream media due to its whackiness, it has always been popular. It also counts with a very strong fanbase, as most popular franchises do. Think of it as the Kingdom Hearts fandom, except none of us were ever that excited to see where the story would go and how happily ever after our favorite characters would turn out cuz these games are about stylish and rewarding combat rather than an emotional story.

So yeah, it never exploded out of nowhere. Especially after DmC being so polarizing, it was just a matter of time until Capcom did a full-fledged sequel. I don't even consider myself that big of a fan and even I was supre excited when they revealed this.

besides DmC 2013 .this game has always been popular. this is the go to game for people who love cheezy one liners and over the top action

Nah, real fans have been waiting for a true sequel since 2005, we are still waiting, but we will probably never get anything…

the game is not to hyped for devil may cry fans. we have been waiting for this for over a decade. i for one have googled devil may cry 5 for years every few weeks to see if one was comming
