Is Dante older here than in DMC2?

People often say in DMC2 he is stoic and has zero humour, barely talks... because he is old and serious.

He is his usual, joking self in this game. Is he older though?

I think the way that DMC5 is played out, I get the feeling that DMC2 is retconned out of the timeline especially since everything in the DMC5 references everything from comics, to the Anime short back in the early 2000s but does not reference the second game. The time line would have actually gone
3,1,4,2
Now it's 3,1,4, 5 or 2

Since both games end on a similar note

Actually it's 3 anime 1 4 2 5 as the game states that he knows Morrison from before 1 (in the DMC3 prequel novels is when they first meet) but its stated in the story filler stuff in the menu that the anime comes before the first game.

2 is mentioned for all of a second - literally, it doesn't even get a page - before it transitions to 5. I'm 99% confident they've just retconned 2 from existence and left it at that.

I thought 2 was a departure from the series? A black sheep darker than DmC? I didn't play it but from everything I've heard, it was quite bad when compared to the first and third games, both gameplay and story-wise. So it'd make sense for Capcom to pretend it never existed. They do it with Resident Evil, or at least they did a few times in the past (Gaiden, Survivor...).

No its 31425. 5 is the first game to come after 2. Also 2 was basically retconned because it's terrible. The fact that they even said this one comes after 2 just seems to be to gloss over it and allow dante to be REALLY old.
