Listen to everyone else saying this is an issue. Just because lucky ol' you is fine with it doesn't mean everyone else is. I don't care if the buttons have the same layout and are in the same position but with different prompts. Using a PS4 controller in a game that requires combos and having the game say the inputs for a different kind of controller is ridiculous.
But year as annoying as it might be for some at first, you really do get used to it, at least I did. I don’t even really see the icons anymore. I mean it’s not like most experienced gamers look at their controllers to figure out the buttons, right? For me its yellow Y, white X, or green triangle just means 4 (top button). And even if they are not using designed icons and just use inline characters (as some games still do) I just instantly associate a button with a position in my head.
That said, I do think developers should put at least all THREE major layouts into their games! But its just a nice feature, like having a toggle to mute a game when you minimize it or not. It’s by no means necessary but always nice to have.
I have a ps4 and I play with a Xone controller on PC... I have a switch too, you get used to it after 5sec :/
