I found that the game treats the boost, hold a on xbone, controller, dunno what keyboard controls are or real name, as a gas guzzler. Could be in my head as well, but I swear that holding X instead of tapping to shoot your spidey webs seems to save gas as well. Helped me when I stopped tapping it and saving the boosts for when attacking only, not speeding up travel.

also DEX reduces gas and blade use as well. upgrade ur gear for gas capacity and max blades if its that much an issue. i dont know what u do vs me, but i was using tigers for a long while and i only have 2 blades. never had issues. for gas i favor pressure more but even with equiping gas saver 1/2*not sure both help* i still end up swapping ALOT. wasnt till i just got a 6 or 7 star item where capacity and pressure went up a decent amount that i stopped having to worry about it as much. ALSO allies that shoot flares, sword with ^ by it. and hitting q and hitting 2. those say reduce gas and blades but SEEM to stop ussage all together. i now have 2 flares with me and have pretty good luck with flare buddies.

Also the sneak attack (sniper view) uses up a LOT of gas the further the target is away. On max range even half a cylinder at least in early stages. So I am using it now only in very few situations.

You could just use Battle Alert Signal, paired with Ready For Anything skill. 2 uses, and Battle Alert Signal's effect gives you infinite Blade Durability+Gas for its duration. Whenever you run out, you can just build a supply base, or resupply at the nearest supply base. Free-cost sneak attacks and Air Dashes are amazing.

You get "Ready For Anything" from Armin's friendship stuff.

At the start I played on Hard, barely could do anything, put the game on Normal made it to Chapter 1 part 4? Gas guzzling was still way too much...

Set it to Easy (temp) and now things are how it should. Can actually move around and enjoy the game. Once I get upgrades, it's going back to Normal or Hard.

Gas consumption at a base nonupgraded gear should be patched. It's unplayable.

The simple is answer is that you don't know how to play. I don't mean this as an insult, or as a way to seem superior, but it's true. Anyone talking about gas problems is playing the game incorrectly.

A. You do NOT have to boost every time you attack. In fact, before you can get bigger gas tanks (allowing you to be more frivolous) you should only boost as a last resort. The point of the mechanic is to help you attack from a shorter range (it doesn't really make you go faster, it's a way to accelerate e.g. for quick followup attacks). It's not really meant as a travel mechanic (certainly not at first) and it is not necessary to do the most damage (which comes down to distance, velocity, angle, and attack timing).

B. You shouldn't be boosting around. Fast travel is achieved by timing the square button as opposed to simply holding it (which is slower, but easier to control) to gain momentum, and heavy use of the air jump ability to redirect/maintain momentum.

C. Sneak attacks use a lot of gas, and they are often unnecessary (so far, I've found them mainly useful for speedrunning S ranks).

If you get to a point where you can understand this game's basic mechanics, then you will realize that you do not even need gas to take down a titan (in fact, you are not penalized for killing titans while out of gas, which isn't true of broken blades). The fact that you claim to run out "after 2 titans" proves that you do not understand this yet.

I hope you'll get some use out of those tips, and that you'll be on your way to kick titan ass soon enough.

(Omitted)
With all the points made, each and every one is true. You don't constantly need to mash boost, especially in the air. You generally want to swing and gain momentum by pressing the anchor button right as the "swing" is going upward to gain more speed. Boosts are, and always should be a last resort(early game), or if you're too close to a titan to do any damage without bouncing off due to lack of speed(in which case, canisters with high gas pressure do a great job at that).

This is especially evident once you earn "Spinning Slash" from Levi, as the game naturally accelerates you as you approach an anchored spot. Don't boost unless you absolutely have to, or can afford to spam it by using Battle Alert Signal, or Erwin's Buddy Command.
