Why no local co-op?
Looking at the footage it looks like an amazing opportunity for this game to have local multiplayer co-op was missed. The presence of local co-op games in PC game releases is sorely needed. Oh, well! Probably still getting this game, it looks dope! Anyone else agree? Thoughts?

Agreed, definitely would not work co-op, you'd end up with two people arguing over whether to forward or rewind and fighting over the control. This is most definitely a single player experience, and WELL worth it!
You could help a partner solve the puzzles though... as the dev said, sometimes you need to be watching the environment change through time, and having a second person doing that would definitely help.

Are we sure there will be no co-op? I was thinking I might finally be able to get my wife to play games with this game. 2 player co-op on one machine looks plausible.

I know right? After watching the game's trailer, immediately I thought it would be a great game to play with my couple as well. I do not see a local co-op tag on the game description and it is labeled as a single-player, so as far as I know that does not leave much room to speculate in favor of there being a local co-op mode for PC (modes which are rare enough as it is in PC, mind you).

What I can say is that sometimes they'll market these games as single-player so as to not dissuade people who do not have others to play with from buying the game. This may very well be the majority of the demographic they're going for, for all I know. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for it to have local co-op, this feature alone would secure my purchase, I'll tell you hwhat.

Hey Jose,

It's a single player game for sure... but that doesn't mean you can't play with your partner! Some times the best way to play puzzle games is as a pair of minds working together :)

Cheers!

I played a bit on Gamescom and it would def. not work as a coop game. You don't controll one Char by another. They always move togehter and that's part of the puzzles.

Too bad, as it looks as the islands are a good restricted area for 2 players play together. If that would be the case, I would definitely buy it for my two children (boy & girl). :butterfly:

Once you play it and understand the mechanics you'll understand why it wouldn't work as a co-op game.
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Interesting - figured this might have been coop, following this from pre-release.

Definitely disagree with the last post, that coop would not work - you can make anything work, with the right approach and a capacity for creativity. For example, limit control to one player / add the ability to hand off control, if that is indeed an issue. Just requires some extra thought.

I get that the developer's intentions were to make this single-player - and that is fine, I'm sure the game is quite fun in single-player, though I've yet to play - but to say that coop would have been an impossibility is just lazy and limited thinking.

May pick this one up on it's current sale - hopefully it's fun playing with a buddy!
