About Standard Mode and Quick Start mode unlock creatures
标准模式与快速开始模式无法解锁幽灵水母和其他深渊生物,能否修改一下成为可解锁状态?
Ghost Jellyfish and other abyss creatures cannot be unlocked in Standard mode and Quick Start Mode. Can I change it to unlockable?

No, right now you must do side objectives to access these special animals.

I'm currently looking into making some changes in this area though. Watch this space.

Currently we can only unlock a limited number of each abyssal fish via quest, I really hope we can get a way to unlock the supply with quest at least on standard mode.

I actually really like the idea of Abyssals being quest-only rewards. I get why it might be changed, but I hope there's an option in-between "some fish are quest only" and "all fish are unlockable" that allows Abyssals to be the only quest-only fish, I think it's interesting and thematically fitting.

Though does the game check if you've done a quest for those animals already, or just if they're in your aquarium or not? Because it would be a shame to accidentally perma-lock yourself out of some fish if you accidentally let your isopods die or something.

Thanks for sharing your opinion on this, it will be a difficult one to tailor to all players' needs but I want to hear as many opinions as possible as I decide what to do.

I like that the standard is to unlock the abyssals through quests, given the realism challenges.

I feel the abyssal animals being trade rewards is a really good balance for their unusual source, it does make them feel appropriately special

I kind of like it too - except of the fact that you can't be sure if you get a specific quest AT ALL. Unless you play sandbox mode and check "everything available"

Honestly, the quests are really frequent, I played through a quickstart and standard game and got literally every deep sea species except the phantom jelly as an offer more than once, I imagine I just didn't get the phantom jelly because I didn't play past rank 12.

I believe those quest are chained, imagine like a big step by step chain quest... probably you are ignoring one old quest that rewarded you with an abyssal fish.

Also, I just tried a new brutal run and I really enjoyed most of the new stuff... but again I ended ignoring the Abyssal fishes even when I completed a lot of the quest related to them, not a huge fan of getting just a limited number.

Hmm perhaps I played on Limited Supply sandbox mode
I have been at my wits end trying to get the completionist acheivement for weeks with this new DLC only to just now discover this post. Originally I had assumed that the lack of abyssal animals (excluding the coral species) was either due to a bug, a corrupt save, or the campaign not being completed. I finished the campaign and unlocked everything for the completionist acheivement THREE seperate times even doing all the ARG side quests with the assumption that they were three part quest lines for each animal (abyssal test, abyssal observation, abyssal unlock) and my most recent victory has still yielded nothing. I sinceirly hope these creatures become unlockable in sandbox soon. I genuinely do love this game to pieces but I'm personally getting sick of having to restart over and over again just to try and unlock animals that i can't unlock

I'm so sorry you've had this experience. That must have been really frustrating. This is actually a bug caused by the addition of Rank 13 with the Deep Freeze DLC. You do not have to unlock the abyssal animals for this achievement (because they are not unlockable at all).

Right now, if you get to Rank 12 and unlock everything, you will get that achievement. I will push an update tomorrow which fixes this though and correctly awards the achievement at rank 13. Keep your save file and it will instantly if you the achievement when you load up the game, after the update goes live.

I'm very sorry for the inconvenience you've been caused.

Update is now live, this issue to do with the 'completionist' achievement is now fixed.

To be clear: No changes have been made as to making Abyssal animals unlockable, I am still working on a design for this. Thank you!
