How to progress through the game?
I've been playing through some of the campaigns, and am currently on the one where you're only supposed to have big creatures filling up your aquariums.

However I keep encountering the same problem; to unlock the fish required to progress onto the next level one seemingly needs more prestige. Prestige is acquired from the visitors, but they take it with them when they leave. So it feels like the only way to increase my prestige is to make my aquariums bigger, with more tanks and more fish.

However before I reach the needed threshold, I always run out of workers to hire. There'll be way more fish to feed than employees available to hire (even if I max out their feeding-stat). Eventually a fish will starve or something like that, which reduces base prestige and makes it all even harder.

I have to be doing something wrong here. How is one actually supposed to play this game? I am of course attempting to put food and other relevant equipment as close to the tanks as possible

that one was the hardest level imo.

but
1) the various decorations give prestige too. (and some can be placed outside of tanks too)
2) keep your guests inside as long as possible, either with a long narrow aquarium or with benches, gift shop ($$$$) etc.

First big tip: on that particular level new staff are made available each time you add a new shark to your aquarium. So prioritise getting any sharks that are available first!

What difficulty are you playing on Guomindang? It does get pretty hard on the highest difficulties. You could always knock it down a step and then come back when you've had more practice?

Other tips:
- The less staff you need fixing, the more you can have feeding. Try to locate your equipment centrally using pumps to reduce the number of fixers you need.
- Use zones to stop your staff spending so much time moving from tank to tank.

and put tanks with fish eating the same stuff next to each other.

idiot workers run to the next tank to feed the last 2 units they got from the dispenser there, and then eventually have to go back to the first tank to feed the other fishes.
