I know this game is suppose to use normal animals that are found in aquariums, but it would neat to try and figure out how to get the Easter egg fish.
So I’d love to see them in game!
Saltwater: Gobies! Of all descriptions. Chromis (blue), Bangai cardinal fish. Some more of tangs wouldn't go amiss. More plants! And more corals!!
General QoL: whether plants are better suited to cold/warm water or acidic/neutral water.
I second Goldfish and Koi! I would love to see breedable versions of them with pattern and colour mutations. It would be awesome if you could start with maybe something like a 'small carp' or a 'large carp' to unlock them via breeding, since that's how they originated in the first place.

Frogfish
Blennies (midas, bicolor)
Cardinalfish (Kaudern’s and or pajama, breedable)

In the long run I wouldn’t mind a dlc with aquatic mammals and birds, even if I’m not particularly fond of them it would make for an entertaining new campaign.
"White Cloud Mountain Minnows" is a classic and very easy to keep in unheated aquariums.
Another very easy species is the "Mosquito Livebearer", a distant relative to the guppy and much easier to keep (sadly rarely seen in the pet trade, despite it being so easy to keep.)
And of course the Paradise Fish, which also holds the dubious honor to be the first fish to be kept in actual aquariums (at the time, goldfish was kept in ponds).
Speaking of which, the "Common Goldfish" is another surprisingly easy species to keep, if you can accomodate for its size. The "Comet" variant is basically just a common goldfish with longer fins.
Fancy strains of goldfish are also hardy fish, but they are smaller and slightly more sensitive than the common variant, and if implemented should be treated as a seperate entity from the common/comet varieties.
And finally, the "Celestial Pearl Danio", an incredibly tiny fish, and incredibly easy to keep and breed. It should be unlocked at level 3, be size one (they're tiny fish after all), and should probably only be kept with size 1 or 2 fish.
As for higher levels, I only have one suggestion right now:
The Kribensis/Rainbow Krib (Pelvicachromis pulcher), a Cichlid from the Congo Delta. Any of the African riverine dwarf cichlids would be a great addition to the game, but the Kribensis is probably the most well known (and easy to breed, seriously, once a pair gets going its nearly impossible for them to stop.)
