SWRepublicCommando.exe has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solustion is available

I just got it on the bundle sale and this now this one is another one I'm having trouble with. Anyone know how to get around something like this?

If you need to know I'm on Windows 8

Try searching in google about BEX problem (as is indicated in your error)
Jaye May 4, 2013 @ 8:05pm
There I found the idea of updating the ATA controller driver. Didn't work. Also saw a page saying you could switch off the firewall/virus scanner and that might work. Didn't work.

Another page suggested turning off Data Execution Protection. That DID get rid of the BEX crash but now I'm looking at this type of crash instead:

Actually, it crashes twice in a row. The second crash log is more helpful.

When it crashes? At the pop-up screen?
nick.642 May 5, 2013 @ 5:50am
Marcus Quinn I have no idea man.

Alvar007 if you were talking about my crash, right as I click play it crashes. It has the loading says star wars republic commando in the little black box screen then it crashes

Also have the same problem.

When I started the game for the first time, I changed graphics to the best (including bumpmapping). I haven't been able to start it again since that. Uninstalled and installed the game several times. Tried to start it in compatibility mode, but it would demand a CD to play. Changing the bumpmapping via file system.ini didn't help either.

If I just could get in the game for once to set bumpmapping to low .. does Steam save the changed graphics even after uninstalling the game? This would be the only explanation I have for that problem.

Toyed with it some more. No luck. But I finally did notice a .log file there. So here it is after trying and failing to boot the game:

That's with every instance of bumpmapping in the system.ini being set to False.
Jaye May 9, 2013 @ 12:30am
I got it to run! Well, for a moment, anyway. In the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steamapps\Common\Star Wars Republic Commando\GameData\System directiory there's a "restoredefaultsystemsettings.bat" file. Run it. It'll pop up a warning saying "Can't find Steam". Ignore it. Load the game via Steam. Should work.
Jaye May 9, 2013 @ 12:32am
The problem for me here is that if I make any changes to the graphic options, it crashes per usual and won't load again until I run the .bat file.
Jaye May 9, 2013 @ 12:37am
Okay! The game works. NEVER make changes to the graphics via the In-Game Menu or you'll have to start all bloody over again. Also, for me, the mouse was moving way too damn fast even at the lowest sensitivty. Just alt-tab out of the game and right back in. Solves that problem right away.

Make any and all graphical changes via editing the system.ini file and KEEP BUMPMAPPING OFF.
Potence May 9, 2013 @ 10:43am
My game still does not work... and i have tried all of this, it just stops working when loading...
