STAR WARS™ Republic Commando

STAR WARS™ Republic Commando

Republic Commando won't launch. Something about a virus.
Just for clarity, I barely know ♥♥♥♥ about computers.
I tried to launch Republic Commando for the first time since I got my new computer (Windows 10 HP) and it just stops and I get either one of two messages:

1)

"AN ERROR OCCURRED WHILST UPDATING STAR WARS: REPUBLIC COMMANDO (MISSING EXECUTABLE): C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars Republic Commando\GameData\System\SWRepublicCommando.exe

2)

"FAILED TO START PROCESS FOR STAR WARS: REPUBLIC COMMANDO: "Insufficient system resources exist to complete the required services" (0 x 5AA)

At this point my McAfee anti virus software says its caught a virus orginating from the game files but I look and I can't find it.

What do these mean? Whats wrong and what can I do to fix it?

Thanks

McAfee is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ antivirus that thinks that the game is a virus. Get rid of McAfee, get a proper antivirus and you will no longer have this issue.

Also the first is down to a missing thing in the game files. idr what it is exactly, but its something about "copying the steam.dll into the base game folder"

Oh, also it would be good to know your system specs.

Ah, now I remember. Its your antivirus quarantining a critical executable that is essential for game startup. Best solution is still to get rid of McAfee, as I said before its ♥♥♥♥.

Okay, can you recommend anything better then McAfee?

Well, I mean I use Norton but apparently a lot of people (mostly gamers) don't like it. I did a quick search and I found this list: https://www.antivirusguide.com/best-antivirus/?lp=default&geo=uk&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&sgv_medium=search&utm_campaign=1717727411&utm_content=70346412194&utm_term=%2Bbest%20%2Bantivirus&cid=336057059692&pl=&feeditemid=&targetid=kwd-21182800352&mt=b&network=g&device=c&adpos=&p1=&p2=&geoid=9046984&gclid=CjwKCAjwkdL6BRAREiwA-kiczBcgStMgTsKMEx0F92YVRUIJ6YEa-UKyxTnxBCYE7UQ0sibUADKK8RoCwx4QAvD_BwE

Looked at some other lists, the consensus for the best one is either Norton or Bitdefender. I suppose that it would be a good idea to look at reviews for both of them and figure out which one you would rather have, as they both have pros and cons.

I have also found this thread on Macafee's help forum, take a look at this if you would rather not switch: https://community.mcafee.com/t5/Consumer-General-Discussions/McAfee-interferes-with-games/m-p/637051#M34112

cant you just run the game as an administrator? or run a compatibility troubleshoot? if a file is missing either redownload the game or check missing files through steam

Do a fresh install and see if that fixes it.

MalwareBytes is the anti-virus I use personally. I have never had issues with it and it's actually managed to save an old laptop I had several years ago that I had a ton of viruses on.

I'm having a similar problem and i'm not sure what to do and when i try to contact support it brings me to a disney website that I have not found to be helpful. I tried all the things on the steam troubleshooting page. I don't understand how to do all these things you are talking about.
