STAR WARS™ Republic Commando

STAR WARS™ Republic Commando

Steam error - An error occurred while updating (Missing executable)
I recently go a new computer and wanted to play Republic commando but it wouldn't start. A pop up showed that a file was missing:

This is the file that was defined:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars Republic Commando\GameData\System\SWRepublicCommando.exe

I don't know what to do or where to find the file could someone please help me since I really love this game. All help is greatly appreciated.

I'm having the same issue. I actually get 3 different error messages each time I try to play it. The first time I try to launch it, the error message says there's a system compatibility issue. The second time, the message concerns the missing .exe file. The third says "Access is Denied (0x5)"--and once I get this message, it's the only I get from then on trying to launch it unless I refreh the Libnrary page.

I tried restarting my computer; didn't work. I went through a bunch of Steam's suggestions, like purging the downloads cache, verifying games files, repairing the game folder; none of that worked. I tried uninstalling then reinstalling the game and that didn't work either. I even tried running as admin but the menu it takes me to demands I inset a disc before I can play it. I'm at a loss at what to do about this.

I think its about your anti virus service. I have Mcafee and it imediately quarantined the file.

That's what I thought, but I'm only running Microsoft Secuirty Essentials and that hasn't detected anything like that. My Mcafee subscription has been expired for a long time.

Then I don't know what to do, sorry.

Okay, after doing some more digging, I found this:
https://wiki.swrc-modding.net/index.php?title=Debug_executable_of_SWRC

It's a debugged version of the missing .exe. file. All you have to do is download this zip file from the link above, then extract BOTH files in the zip (debug.dll and debug.exe) to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars Republic Commando\GameData\System. Once you do that, start the game by clicking/opening the Debug.exe file. It worked for me and everything's been running smoothly, but you have to boot it from the Debug.exe file every time, not through Steam.

You can rename Debug.exe to SWRepublicCommando.exe then Steam should be able to find it.

Absolutely fantastic, thank you so much!

I tried to find C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars Republic Commando\GameData\System, but I couldn't find it in my game data. I dragged the debug files directly to the system folder and opened debug.exe and the game ran once. After i changed it's name it would no longer run. What should I do?

That directory should exist, I haven't the slightest idea why you can't find it. Definitely would not change the name of the file.

I tried it but the onyl way to play it is through the application in the folder.

After doing this is there anyway to configure a game controller to the game

I had the same problem. Your save data was corrupted, and I had the same issue. All you have to do is make a new profile & delete the old one. at least, that's if it won't actually go into campaign/multiplayer.
