For me, my antivirus software would quarantine two files every time I tried to start it, so I would get an error. You may have to set up an exception for the files it keeps removing.
1. Right-click on the game in your library and select "Properties".
2. Under the "Local Files" tab, select "Verify integrity of game files". This will replace the files that the antivirus removed.
3. I have McAfee as my antivirus. Whatever program you use, you have to add the following files as exceptions to the real-time virus scanning: "SWRepublicCommando.exe" and "TestApp.exe". These files are found here: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Star Wars Republic Commando\GameData\System"
For McAfee, once I open the real-time scanning page, there is an option to add excluded files.
To test if this is the problem, you could have your antivirus scan the folder where the game files are located; if it reports that it found and removed some threats, you know you need to exclude some files as described above.
