You... You're on the internet. That's the mechanism by which you're able to even post, and you have no difficulty with internet access. This is about as asinine as "I want this house to occasionally not have electricity".
I know there are always going to be people who point to Left 4 Dead and say "That had offline play", but the Internet is more prevalent today than it was back then, and it's only getting moreso, and asking for games to support not having it is like asking a store if they'll accept your Bank of America card.
I know it's not the same, but you can play Solo.
Then there's a friends only mode that'll technically work as a solo gamemode if you don't have anyone to invite. You won't even encounter stalkers as they require 2+ players to invade.
But uninstalling your internet would be good too. Fewer inane remarks.
The game has to be online. That's where some of the progression gubbins sit. Just make a Friends Only game like everyone else who wants to solo. For someone as charismatic as you, it should be virtually indistinguishable from a Solo game.
You're not guaranteed a constant and stable internet connection though. My normally reliable internet went down for a few days this week, so games with offline play were much appreciated. Especially the ones with offline content that was pretty much identical to playing online, like Day of Infamy.
Majority of the world has metered only internet and even then it is either not stable or weak or both. Alot of people usually go to internet cafe to download our games, well we bring a hard drive and use the steam backup and restore games option so we can spit it out on our personal laptops as most internet cafe's dont allow outside personal computers.
Pretty sure Dead by Daylight doesn't do single-player. Neither does Blackwake. Warframe doesn't let you boot up without a connection. Rocket League is pretty pointless without internet connection. So's Rust and ARK.
I just wanted to know more about the position your arguments were coming from, and it's a disappointment. Just how strong was your stance again?
First time I've heard about the player numbers being a consideration for solo. be sure to clean up the marks on the floor when you're done moving your goalposts. But you did delete these posts, so maybe you do have common sense. If a bit late.
Besides, if you "don't like people" (Really? You? But you're so charming and eloquent and personable.), TBC *has* a Solo option. I'll concede that M'Dic brings up a good point - that Internet access might be a problem for people under the yoke of ISP monopoly (and I'm more willing to pay attention to them because they didn't start with personal jabs like a brat). If you ask nicely, they might lend you their chisel so you can make a point half as well as they did.
IF you're willing to put on your big-boy pants and sit at the grown-up table without flinging stuff around for once... I agree: this game shouldn't have to always be online when other games can do what it does *and* be offline (PAYDAY 2, for instance, has customisation and progression, while allowing offline play and cloud sync at a later time), and the developers have stated that the framework for offline play already exists (at least in the event that they can no longer maintain their servers). But this game is barely out the door, and implementing Offline Play is not more important than making sure the game is playable.
In the meantime, either make a decent suggestion to show the developers that it's a feature you're looking forward to and just use Online Solo in the meantime, or find something else.
I hear Metal Gear Survive supports Offline Play. Perhaps that one is more to your tastes after all? After 25 hours, I sure hope it did.
Offline modes also allow us to bypass needless grinds and other questionable features the devs put in their games. (Like with Killing Floor games).
Relax, they have planned for that.
