Thankyou :)
Id like to take the time to tell a bit of a story, ultimately also a heartfelt thankyou -
Mashinky truthfully has a bit of a spotty history with myself, a good friend gifted it almost a year ago. I tried a few things but could never get - Into it... Ive always admired tycoon type games from afar.. but im more of a driving person, I like being in the cab or atleast watching trains to by up close -

the recent update to the walking and driving update has been something of a wonderful surprise thats both revitalised my interest in the game and helped spread its existance within some rail enthusiasts circles

To me personally its got an almost organic quality about it, turning cold sterile transport networks built exclusively for movement of goods into surpisingly lovable xen-alike quality casual railway experiences - finding its place within the ranks of Derail Valley and Diesel Railcar Simulator as a stand out class of indie developed train themed games by small dev teams, ones that very much show the love and dedication lost on the larger AAA titles that could never hope to generate such a real sense of pride and ooze with soul

I have to admit, after finding somewhat of a sweetspot within a 512x512 map that was originally just a cheap token grab - ive found a lovely little railway connecting a town and a farm, short in distance but with the scenery, nearby trains and sheer accidental quality. its a route ive actually driven myself more times than id probably like to admit.

I dearly thankyou for this update, its absolutely great :)

id like to also ask about the future - im a big fan of the class 03 lookalike locomotive and some of the steamers, will we be seeing "philip" standard cabs in the other locomotives soon?

are derailments and or speed limits planned to be worked into manual driving?

also its with alot of joy I see your working on multiplayer, even with its simplified physics and everything involved, this game would make the absolute best multiplayer train driving game if theres to be player controlled driving trains in multiplayer, perhaps a dispatcher/signal box role also? It could very much fill the need for a casual yet realistic feeling multiplayer railway operation for a bunch of good friends

Finally, the last point id like to raise is one close to my heart, as seen in the video -
as a rail enthusiast and lover of all things trains.. it pulls my heartstrings somewhat to see locomotives that served their duty for some 50 years become obsolete and disapear from the depot and or die off -

to this end in this game ive taken to making a "preservation railyard" of rusty life expired locomotives manually driven and parked on an isolated yard, there they sit frozen in time much like the realworld bringing a wonderful quality to the game - the issue is though, the game sees them as useless and repeatedly says so, could there be some kind of checkbox to indicate that a locomotive is under preservation?

happily though I admit to re-activating the rusty class 03 at 2030 something, driving her into the depot and hooking it upto a tourist train where she now runs as a living part of history. it'd be great to see something like this have some official support :)

(perhaps even shunting without depot?)

Thanks for everything, the hard work you put in the game and the wonderful thing its blossomed into, best wishes for the team and the games future

I heartily agree with the desire for locomotive preservation. Maybe a depot extension that allows locomotives to be rebuilt, resetting the wear and tear date? It could cost more than the original loco, as money tokens aren't too awful later in the game. But I do love using the old little shunter steamers on branchlines, or keeping the large steam locos working in coal mines.

The flagship historic steamer running a stopping route alongside electric locos is also wonderful too.

But truly, a lovely game and I can't wait to see it go further.

Overland, thanks a lot for such a warmth message, I am so glad you enjoy the game! And that I was able to bring such a joy to many players of our awesome community...

I know interiors of some locos are empty or very simplified. I change my mind (and imrpoved the game engine) in some areas during EA and was not able to reflect everything back to already produced assets yet, but I will definitelly get back to adding interiors, glass into windows, proper articulated chassis where needed etc. before final release of the game. (I will also do a huge rebalancing before the release).

Regarding to your ideas and requests, yes, the speed limits nad possible derailement is something I have on my todo list. I only need to find out the way how to warn player / show the actual limit and speed limit changes ahead and ballance it properly so it is not frustrating or too tolerant :)

And for annoying "Train is useless" message, I will think about it and solve it somehow (like giving you only 3 warnings and cancel other until train moved or something). Thanks to you and Brynn for pointing this out!

.... and I am also looking forward to be accompanied by my friends in MP :) It is a just task, but there is a light at the end of a tunnel :)

Thanks a lot guys, have a great day!

There are two little details Jan didn't mention -
There is already one type of derailment implemented - if you hit the end of track at speed more than 10 km/h you will crash and burn. So if you station is an "end station" and not drive through, you better brake properly not to overshoot the end, when you are driving the train by yourself :-)

And second detail - you can use "replacement of the train" for preservation. Even if you can't buy certain locomotives as new machines in higher eras, you still CAN use the replacement window and replace them by the same model. There is currently flat fee of 100 greens which I'm sure will be rebalanced later, but the feature works.
If you're not sure about this feature, step-by-step instructions are available on our wiki page:

Thankyou both for the reply :) definately didnt know about the renovation feature, it'll keep my 60 year old class 03 running for another century I hope, much appreciated

On the subject of derailments and speed, I was thinking possibly colour coded feature of corners map mode

which I assume by the way the game shapes corners, can only be in a few configurations.

using the hypothetical "display speed limit colours" mode - grant the player the ability to plant speed limit signs like signals, where they see fit.. this would be like everything and a more player driven system than automatic so it'd be upto the player to space out warning distances

if someones going to take the time to drive realistically and need speed limits, chances are theyre going to probably choose the route they use, so this will be the ones to be peppered with speed signs for safe operating, creating a sense of ownership and even pride in the track they drive?

one thing id like to ask though, will diesels and electrics ever have controller notches?

Thanks again for a wonderful game :)
