Carcassonne: The Official Board Game

Is the game worth buying for solo play?
Just wondering how the AI is, and whether the interface decent, the game is bug free and worth playing more than a few times.

This game is almost bugfree and the AI is pretty solid.
Since the latrest DLC the Princess and the Dragon the AI is a bit slow though when a few of the new special tiles appear.
I recommend it, I enjoy it solo.

I knew the board game and tried playing solo :
- when connected to asmodee account, you get disconnected for being connected elsewhere... too bad the only other computer with my account connected is OFF... so you can't stay connected
- when playing with all extension against the basic AI, after less than 50 tiles played, get ready to wait between 2min to 10min for the AI turn.... UNPLAYABLE!

I'm also recommend it. But I have to say that I didn't try solo with all expansions. But I never thought that the AI is too slow.

The game itself is good but the digital version sucks. Recently, in 20 out of 40 games or so, the game disconnected before the end of the game. Players assume it's the servers. It's not worth the money-you only buy connection troubles.

well AI is on 100% single core on a ryzen 2600x, when deciding about dragons xD
Unfortunately, the late game is unplayable with dragons and portals. :(

AI is good but its pretty boring playing alone in my opinion

The more AI players you have and the more options they have for placing tiles (late game), the slower their decision making becomes. That being said, if you limit the number of expansions you play with, or limit total number of players when using AI its quite good. Several AI playstyles to pick from, although honestly I don't really see the difference between them.

I have a computer built in 2011, with a Phenom 1090T 6-Core Processor, overclock to 3600 GHz, and I don't mind waiting for the computer, since I play when watching television.

I usually play against either 4 or 5 computer opponents. Remember, the less AI opponents you play against, the easier a game, you will have. That is why I try to play against a lot of opponents. I own all expansions. If you turn off Dragons and Princess, the computer does move faster when it is NOT a Dragon and Princess tile but only when it is not a Dragon and Princess tile. Since it only slows down when it is a Dragon and Princess tile, I don't mind it too much. Sometimes I play with the Dragon and Princess turned on and sometimes not.

But as I said, I play with the television turned on, so I don't get annoyed at the computer taking a while. The computer does very good in my opinion. With 4 or 5 computer opponents. And I usually set each opponent to a different "personality". It is a pretty good challenge and is hard to beat.

I like solo for when I am doing other things in real life, whether eating food, watching television or moving about in my apartment, that I won't be able to focus 100% on playing a multiplayer game. So I can just take my time on it, and finish whenever I want, and still have a challenging game.

When I have time to focus 100% on it, I can always do a multiplayer game.

I'm happy with this game myself, and I own two Steam accounts, with a total of 3300 games. I wouldn't say this is the best game I own, but it is a very enjoyable game. I would recommend it. I made a new account so I could more easily sort my more recently purchased games from games I purchased a long time ago.
