Which expansions are planned?

The base game (and river) are kind of plain and Carcassonne really only becomes interesting with some of the bigger expansions added. Surely at least some of these are planned. If so, which ones and do you have a release schedule?

Which expansions would players like to see? There are some obvious basic ones like Inns and Cathedrals, Princess and Dragon and Traders and Builders but I also like some of the mini ones like the Count.

I think the devs said they have plans to add more, but can't say exactly when.

Hello Simon,

We have planned a lot of cool stuff for 2018 :) I cannot say more at the moment, but definitely Carcassonne will greatly evolve in the coming year.

There's a tile from Inns and Cathedrals that shows up in the trailer and in some tutorials, so they probably already tested that expansion at some point in development.

I would like to see Inns & Cathedrals, Traders & Builders and Abbey & Mayor at some point, but the one I want to see the most is probably Count, King & Robber!!
To my knowledge, the new edition of that expansion has yet to be printed in any language other than german. So digital would be good way to try it out.

I would also love to see some games from the Around the World series games being ported to digital, expecially Carcassonne Amazonas, because they are not available where I live.

We are born of the same cloth. I tried the Tower once in the physical edition and it was terrible, beyond stupid and difficult. Very happy to skip that one.

I was talking about Catapult expansion. This is where you need to physically throw your meeples with some kind of catapult. Tower seems OK, just a bit complicated. But anyway I play with about 10-15 expansions loaded and game takes like 4 hours to finish. So it's already very complex and Tower doesn't add too much complexity :-)

Sorry, I was confused. It was a long while ago that I played. But I think you’re right; it was probably the Tower that I played. I didn’t like it much.

I remember either reading about Catapult expansion online or saw it in a shop and I literally did laugh out loud when I read the description. I thought “that’s it, I’m done with expansions for this game” when I saw that!

I have almost all Carcassonne expansions, including mini ones. Yet I don't have Catapult, because it's not Carcassone, it's some other game. All other expansions a very good. Well maybe a couple others are so-so, but when you combine most of'em you get a VERY decent 4+ hour game.

You also need a football stadium to be able to place all the tiles LOL (I mean the physical version) but yeah, I agree the most of expansions for this game are really good (even the mini ones).
