it seems that when I paste a cloned area, zones that are in a straight line from it going south gets cleared as well that is way past the area where i pasted the clone.

has this happened to you?
MetalDad Nov 14, 2018 @ 5:07am
Didn't check that yet, but I'll give it a try...
MetalDad Nov 14, 2018 @ 5:14am
There's something wrong, that's for sure:

First I selected a vertical row of ticketing machines. The entire area was zoned:

Then I pasted it to the right of the existing machines. Part of the ticketing zone got removed (the part I made yellow) and the tiles where the new machines were pasted:

But this was mentioned in today's update notes. I have to try your specific problem, though.

Edit: Sometimes it got cleared to the North. And when I cancle the paste operation, the floors still get cloned. So when you paste something to an area with a different floor and you want to cancel it, you have to cancel it twice: once for the object(s) and once for the floor tiles. Which means that you don't cancel the paste, but you cancel the pasted objects. My logic would say that you cancel the paste action. But I know my logic is not everyones logic... ;)

Yes seeing that too. zones of all types N & S of the copy point get cleared

yeah regarding the cancelling, that is my logic too. Your problem and mine are similar as well. maybe it is not as specific as I described it but more like how Achillodene described it.

regarding the update notes, i think it was a bit vague. Because if what we are discussing here is what they referred to in the notes, they should have mentioned it as a bug as it is clearly a bug. That is why I believe in the notes that they are referring to the zones where the clone is pasted as the one that will be cleared.

"Zones are cleared from the area when 'pasting'"

True, but I was cloning into the same area. So I copied 4 ticketing machines in a ticketing zone and pasted them into the same zone. Underneath the new machines, the zone is gone. I can live with that for now (and this is what I believe the update notes say), but besides this, part of the original zone is gone too and much more tiles that the area I selected to copy in the first place. And that's a bug. But hey, first version, so it surely will get better in the future. ;)

The wrong area is getting the zones cleared -- will have a fix for that in the next update. Basically the "rotated but not yet offset position" is getting erroneously cleared, instead of the paste position. It's intended to clear the zone underneath the 'paste area', but not elsewhere. :)

yeah, nevertheless, I am loving the clone tool!!!!

Thank you guys for the feedback by the way! This is certainly a tool the team is happy to bring on and like everything else in SimAirport we look to the feedback of the community to bring the best possible changes and tweaks to make it feel right. :)

This one was in the top 3 on my most wanted list! Some things I really like to do in this game and some things are ok, but placing hundreds of objects over and over again became rather annoying sometimes. Especially when I realized I was building this on the wrong floor or one tile off. Arrrghh!! But those days are over!!! :D
A "move"- tool would be great too, btw... ;p. The basics are the same, you only have to remove the source... ;)

one suggestion though, i know that the clone tool does not allow escalators and queues and some other things. But I think it would be more user friendly to allow the clone tool to copy an area with those objects (escalators, queues and the like) and just ignore the objects that it does not allow.

What hapened is I want to copy my ticketing area to my new terminal. But since it had queues, I cannot select the entire zone to copy it. Rather I need to copy it in sections which is quite a hastle as I need to measure stuff again since I want to preserve the layout.

Another suggestion would be to be able to copy an area while ignoring the floor (like carpets). It could be done by allowing the user to press a modifier key (such as CTRL) when pasting a cloned area. That when that modifier is held down while pasting, only the items/objects are pasted and not the floor.

+1. Good suggestions!

I feel as though this thread is a model EA community, Devs giving the players what the players think is needed, and the players providing constructive feedback on the features to help perfect the game.
Hubbit200 Nov 15, 2018 @ 12:25pm
Yep, these Devs really are the most involved and open withe the community ever! I don't think I've ever seen any other devs that reply to most of the steam discussions and are happy to answer any questions!
Ramsis Nov 15, 2018 @ 12:28pm
We certainly try! :)
