Janitor hire
I can't hire janiitors. I mean I can hire them but they never arrive. Is anyone else having this issue?

same here, seems like only 1 is working
I've hired many janitors, all are there and working. :/

You have to assign janitors to a garbage zone in the deploy screen.
I realised that the 31st May Edge fired all my Janitors save for 1 janitor. Re-hiring them results in all but one being fired again automatically. I guess it is the auto hire/fire feature malfunctioning

The auto Hire/Fire is working correctly, if you only assign one janitor to the garbage zone in all shifts you only need one janitor, thus auto fire will fire any extra.

If you want more janitors, go to staff deployment, your shift you want/need more on and increase the amount on the garbage zone.
got it thx! bit confusing these updates sometimes

Ah. got it. Thank you for the fast response!
Confused, I don't have a 'deployment' screen.

Can I just say in the most polite way possible that
makes no sense at al
is in no way made clear
feels a bit counter intuitive?

Could we please think of something (else) to solve this?

Ideally, some sort of object that the agents react with and needs strategic placement for optimal use?

Say, a smal cell wide Cleaning Station that when placed will require a janitor (same as staff/security/retail) that can be either hired individually or with autohire?
From the staff deloyment screen you can assign janitors from cleaning stations to patrols.
No janitor should stay in the garbage zone.

I think in principle the garbage zone method is fine, although needs more clarification :)

Personally I think I'd find that more confusing, as it's an object, and objects can be bought multiples of, ect. If anything I think they'd have to be hired from the garbage zone and then maybe Cleaning stations to increse effectiveness or something? I find the garbage zone method simpler because there can only be one.

I'm hoping for staff rooms one day :)

Isn't that exactly how you (auto)hire security staff, general staff or retail staff?
Buy the object they work at? Sometimes multiple times in a row?
Yes, Janitor system is extremely confusing. Maybe I'm wrong (always a real possibility) but it seems like hiring janitors is now completely different from hiring all other staff. Silly me, I assumed that when I set up a route and then indicated how many janitors I wanted on that route they would be hired. When only one guy showed up for work I knew something was wrong, but what? There was no way to find out what in the game. I would also expect that somewhere I could see the total number that I have assigned to routes so that I could hire the correct number.

Edit: Could someone also go through again how one assigns a janitor to the garbage zone? Be very, very specific and specify exactly where the relevant buttons, etc. are on the screen at each step. I read what has been said and I think I understand it, then I go into the game and I just can't find the mechanism for assigning the janitors to the zone. I don't remember any other staff needing this. I hire them, they come to work, they find an empty slot and go to work.

Ahh, I misunderstood, I thought you meant that you could get various janitors with one cleaning station! Yep, that would work then
@rkelly17, I totally agree with you (please read my other threadabout this as well!)

  • Go to the staff schedule overlay (bottom right in the main screen)
  • Use the dropdown menu to select Janitor
  • Click on the schedule you want to edit (standard: Daytime)
  • Find your garbage zone. Click on it untill you have the correct number of janitors for this shift.
  • Hit the plus under Janitor Patrols and create waypoints for a new patrol
  • Assign Janitors from the pool you've created at the garbage zone to this patrol with the + and - buttons next to Assigned
  • Exit this screen (no need to save the layout), janitors will arrive and do their patrols

Also, if we go there, please don't make me able to assign more janitors to patrols then there are janitors in my pool for that shift at the garbage zone, or increase that number as i assign more then that number to patrols. But, let's just not go there. Please.

This was actually one of my points after testing it internally and as far as I can tell michael already changed this locally.
Some great feedback in general though!
