HELP Passengers checking bags/tickets and not going through security immediately

So passengers come and check their bags in or get their tickets validated. Then instead of going through security and waiting in the terminal, they just ♥♥♥♥ off to my pickup area which has a bunch of seats and thats it. Then 20-10 minutes before they have to board they try to get through security and boom they missed their departure. It is really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up my airport I have like 1000's of missed departures and planes leaving at 60% capacity. HELP

Sounds like they're looking for somewhere to sit. Have you got a seating area near the gate(s)?

They have seating by their gates (like a normal airport) and even seating in the ticketing area (I tried to atleast solve the distance problem to security so they're not walking over to my pickup zone to have a seat). Tho I'm thinking it might be due to the awkwardness of my security zone, ticketing is on the first floor and security is on the second (they go through that and down some escalators to the terminal)

I can't get screenshots RN ATM, but I think I might know the problem. I have an awkward layout with my ticketing area on the first floor and security on the second (they then take stairs down to get on the first floor)

make sure your stairs going up to security also go down. Pax needs to be able to leave without going thru security. Say they miss their plane and not made it thru security they would have to return to ticketing or go home. No valid ticket no entry thru security

In my airport, I have, ticketing, security and departures on the second floor, with arrivals and baggage claim on the first floor, with escalators at each gate and in the insecure areas to get between them. Perhaps try that?

I can try but that's gonna take a bunch of redesigning (I have a large office area on top of my airport that covers the terminal/ticketing areas)

Another option would be to put everything on one floor.
