ID check stands only come in one flavor.
Bagscans are available in standard and remote. Remote bagscans save on personnel expenses, but if you assign too many bagscans to one terminal, the throughput speed drops.
At the moment, there's no difference between metal detectors and bodyscanners insofar as the game is concerned, and metal detectors are faster.
For best throughput, don't leave your machines unassigned; instead, organize them into "lanes." You can use a 1:1:1 ratio, but that's inefficient as the machines have different throughput speeds. If using metal detectors, a 1:2:2 ratio works well, while with bodyscanners a 1:2:3 ratio works well.
That's extremely efficient, but it's also usually more expensive. Consolidating into only one or two security zones saves substantially on equipment and personnel.
Correct on the interpretation of the ratio. Sorry; I should've labeled at least one of them for clarity.
I generally use remote scanners to save on personnel expenses, but never assign more than about 4-5 scanners to any given desk. More than that and the slowdown becomes an issue. From what I've seen, the basic bag scanner is even with the remote when you have one remote assigned to the desk; the remotes become slightly less efficient for the first few assigned, then markedly less efficient once you go over five scanners per desk.
