office space issue/question
Hi, I'm on my first playthrough and I'm trying to set up the CFO office. I hired the CFO, built a foundation and a door, and then zoned the area as office space. the next thing to do (I presume) is to add an office chair and desk. However, when I try to do that, I get a message saying that those items have to be placed in an indoor area. As far as I can tell, it's indoors. (also, for some reason, it won't allow me to place a floor)

What am I doing wrong/what step am I missing? Thanks!

It sounds like you already have 4 walls, 1 door, 1 office desk, and 1 office chair. This is all the is required. The issue is with the zoning. It you have a square that is waiting for something to be built (foundation, floor, item, etc.), it will not zone. Every office square has to be zoned from wall-to-wall-to-wall-to-wall.

You have 3 times you can zone an area. The first time is after the foundation is completely built, but before you build anything else. The second and third are interchangeable. One is after you have built all amenities. The second is after the floor covering is completely built.

Without having every square in that sector zoned for Office, it will appear with that indoor error message. Without having every square zoned as Office or a wall, it throws the system off. If a square next to the square with the error message is not zoned the same or a wall, it thinks that it is outside.

Did you use stairs in the office? Was everyting build when you zoned it? When something is still under construction (to be build or to be deleted) when you zone an area, this spot will not be zoned.

I didn't use stairs because the office should be on the same level as the main building. I know we can add levels with the latest update, but I haven't gotten that far. I believe the office foundation and door was completed before I zoned it, but I'm not 100% sure. Should I have added the chair and desk before zoning? I'll try that again.

Thanks !

Thank you blackdrako, but I discovered the issue. I was building foundation walls without the floor. (I thought I was supposed to use one of the varous floor tiles as the foundation floor). That's why it kept on telling me that it wasn't enclosed.

I appreciate your response!
