Stuck on Poached Egg in Dlc

How do you prove how to Poach an Egg? I've looked everywhere....I think access to the kitchen will allow me to finish other quests.

I also have trouble in the Hedge maze, though I killed the wizard and picked bushes...

I killed the Mage and, I guess, his book disappeared after I read it. I opened the chest, but still can't go through that portal thing.....Thanks, btw

The portal only seemed to summon more topiary monsters when I was holding the wizard's orb

I looked up poached egg in the dictionary and could't get any info. The Librarian and book rows didn't know anything either.

There's apparently four different "solutions" to the hedge maze (at least, that I'm aware of; there may be even more), but none of them are quest-relevant, they're just small stat or exp bonuses.

The wizard dropped two books. One gives a perk, the other one has a hint to get through the hedge maze. Another path through the maze is hinted in the dictionary, by looking up the four directions. The other two ways to get through the hedge maze are Easter Eggs. (One is a NES reference; one spells a four-letter word)

Edit: there's a fifth way through the maze I just read in another topic, but it's an even smaller bit of XP. It's another easter egg that spells a three-letter word.

Edit: The NES reference, incidentally, is not the Konami code, which doesn't work.
