Reason To Head West?

Does anybody know if the dialogue with Rufus where he asks you why you head west affects the gameplay? I did a Fistful of Cutlets and needed to use the second option, to seek my fortune for a boost to meat gains. But does "to get off this stupid farm" and "to help people" change the gameplay at all?

According to the WOL wiki,
To help people:"
You can gain increased XP when choosing the nicer options in various random encounters.
The ending text will change depending on how many people you helped.

"To seek my fortune:"
You will receive slightly more meat from all meat veins and the tutorial mine carts, and significantly more meat from Curly's strongbox.
The ending text will change depending on how much Meat you have at the end.

"To get off this stupid farm:"
You have a slight, but generic increase in your base XP reward level.
The ending text will change depending on how many locations you unlocked.
