no more needles for orehole mine?

Got 2 needles from the horse place, used one to trade for dynamite and one to open sheriff cell. I'v been looking everywhere but can't find a third one to open the tool box in orehole mine. I really want to finish this area before moving on. I read there was one in the haystack back at home but I can't seem to find a way home.

its unintuative but you had to die to the second snake in the desert to get a free dynamite. then you trade it for a key. not an issue though unless you are going for the acheivement to get max money in the prologue. the chest only contains 1 meat.
