Hard hat one day run with Beanslinger
Curious if anyone has done this. Seems like it would be the hardest class.

I don't know, I think I'd rather do Beanslinger than Cow Puncher.

The triple attack from Cow Puncher would come in handy early on, but with Beanslinger, it just means you have to be more careful and maybe grind a bit more early.

Mid-late game, I think I'd rather have Beanslinger's AoE. Could be wrong, though, I've only done Snake Oiler for hard mode/one day.

My hard mode run as a cow puncher, the first thing I seemed to notice as the game crawled on was that scaling damage was gimped and that flat damage was king.

Given my last run as beanslinger was a worldbeater on normal but I didn't see any flat damage skills, I'd imagine beanslinger would be pretty trash at hard mode.

I was thinking haymaker would be a huge asset for cow puncher

I seem to remember I had quite a few spell damage bonuses in my Beanslinger run, though I could be wrong.

Edit: Just checked my save; I finished with +65 spell damage bonus.

i did really hard run as cowpuncher and haymaker was super useful. a little tough on the onset.

i read the nex mex book to get Rain of Teeth to have a solid AOE and that worked out well

I just completed a one-day Hardhat run as a Snake oiler. My 3rd attempt. I mostly relied on out-statting guys in combat between alchemy buffs & El Vibrato stuff & Strong Medicine

I did it with beanslinger. The wall spell was OP. It says it only blocks ranged shots, but when upgraded it also blocked physical hits, which means only magic gets through. And since you are a beanslinger, you have really high magic defense.

Focus on the fire spell and magic up buff (and the bean wall, as I said above). The bean summon isn't worth it on hard. Blizzard is ok late game, but I barely used it.

Also, I ate all 3 ghost pickles as my only food to be very tanky, but when I do it again I might just eat one ghost pickle so that I can eat some other stat up food. Save your spleen spots for the Magic mushrooms (+23 mystic up). Or mabye they're food actually, now that I think about it, which is why I would go with only 1 pickle next time. I forget what alcohol I drank.

I did it with the Doc pardner, which was great for killing skeletons early.

The Cowpuncher seems like the worst class to me, but maybe I haven't given it a fair chance. The snake oiler is the strongest because of the class crafting skill potions/alcohol/spleen upgrade, IMO, but I really enjoyed the Beanslinger.

So far, I've found the Beanslinger to be the easiest class to play. As mentioned by artofwar, the Beanwall skill is extremely good. On top of that, the Beanslinger is the only class that can fully benefit from Nex-Mex books without losing their primary damage source.

I've actually completed all the achievements (except the currently bugged one) and tried all three classes, and I definitely feel Beanslinger is superior by far. Snake Oiler is okay and Cow Puncher is just bad. This is my take on it, anyways.

for me, liking cow puncher is just a style thing. I don't want to mess with mixing potions, constructing walls and bean barriers all the time. I'm impatient so I just get high speed and high muscle and punch everyone out in one shot before they get a chance to attack, then move on. to each their own though.

I could understand that jenn, however, I can get high mysticality and high speed and then just one shot all the enemies (rather than a single one) with an AoE ability as the Beanslinger. Early on, the wall, self buffs, and Nex-Mex summons can help you push harder content faster. Later on, you can just instantly kill all the enemies in turn one.

Yeah, that's why I enjoyed Beanslinger a lot more than Cow Puncher. At least on normal.

On hard mode, the biggest threat is random encounters, which are usually a single enemy, so Cow Puncher or Snake Oiler's triple attack comes in handy.

But on normal, blizzard is just great.

In normal I definitely felt really strong as beanslinger once I got later in the game. In hard mode I feel like the first area is the most difficult part though and that's where I feel like beanslinger is weak

you would need Gary as your partner (because you can get two Shrrom Grow relatively easily and he buds off well) the dark horse (to run away from wandering encounters) , and then you would still need to get monumentally lucky, OR abuse the heck out of consumables to buff your stats crazy high.

Just did mine as beanslinger.

The earliest was the toughest by far, but by doing a fair bit of early grinding and getting the right items to boost spell damage it was fairly manageable.

Getting the right stat boosting items helps a lot too, though. I got to the buffalo pile safely and made fudge, then doubled back and finished the first third of the areas with that huge stat boost.
