Fort Memoriam gives you a sword, similar to the gun. Breadwater is... boots, I think?
Also, as I said, there are no downsides to searching the spitoons. Absolutely none. Even if you don't want to use any given item, you can always sell it.
So just search every spitoon you see.
Or don't. Up to you.
(Note that skipping the prologue will lock you out of it if you searched the Boring Springs spitoon on a previous playthrough)
