Closing the portal at Hellstrom Ranch

Ok, so i managed to use the time tube to age my cowbane seeds into fully grown plants and scattered them in a circle in front of the portal. I have silver plated some barbed wire but cant do anything with it. Anyone manage to do this? Have i mucked up that which cannot be unmucked?

Take this with a grain of salt, but I think there might be a way to uncowrrupt yourself using Kellogg's secret forumla, due to the favor text on it about clearing your guts. I've yet to figure out how though, everytime I've tried I get a message about my glands being evil.

Can you actually close the portal?

I have the cowsbane and mallet (and some silver plated barbed wire too) and summoned the duke bovicius but it doesn"t seem to be an option to fight it or to close the portal.

Have anybody found anything more regarding this?

Maybe taking the dusty turnip from the beginning and cover it in silver? Cover the hell mallet in silver and ring the bell? I'm lost at this point

Covering the turnip in silver creates a turnip crown which you can give King Norton at the end before he steals your train(Which I sadly did not do) but other from that and wearing it there's nothing with it

On the note of removing it: I can confirm that doing Kellog's regimen removes cowrupted. Still not sure how to kill him, covering the mallet didn't do anything.

Yeah i have silver plated the mallet too, but it seems there is more to it.

Ok, i think i have one solution to it.

So, based on Rathskellars info above, i went ahead and cowrupted myself. I was then able to craft the mallet needed to summon the bovine duke of hell. Before I did, however, I did the kellogs health regimen: went to sleep wearing the chastity pants, ate a bowel of kellogs cereal and did the exercises. This removes the cowruption perk.

I then summoned Duke Bovinicus and told him no, he was staying in the damn circle. Tried talking to the circus folk to see if they wanted to gank him, but had no options. Then decided to just see what the end credits were with the duke stuck in the circle. Turns out, since you have him stuck in the circle and are somehow not cowrtupted the herd has no one to lead them when the signal goes out and stampede east, absolutely nowhere near any human settlements.

I suspect there is a way to close the portal for good, but I have not found it yet.

I doubt its in the game, but I would love to be able to silver plate some manacles and arrest the Bovine Duke of Hell based on a preposturously long list of charges. Collar of my life XD

Did anyone check the Fort Alldead options at any point, especially after getting him stuck there?

I'm gonna experiment a bit more, but it seems that trapping the Duke and cleansing your Cowruption is enough for a 'good' ending to that subplot. I went ahead to the ending and it said that the leaderless Cow invasion never actually made it to any human settlement. And just to be double-sure I wasn't missing anything, I was doing a run as a Cow Puncher with Susie along to see if there were any unique options. There weren't any, as far as I saw.

As for closing the portal, I dunno. Next run I do I'm gonna see if I can enlist the help of the,
ugh, clowns. Before I inevitably betray them with the skeleton army, of course.
