Question for the devs

In the discord server, there's been a debate - mainly perpetuated by me admittedly - about the clowns. I just cannot see that it's as simple as they're evil. The conflict between humans and clowns has always baffled me as they seem to just... not like each other, and as far as I'm aware they don't kill people for the sake of it.

I want the devs to confirm once and for all so this can stop messing with my head: are the clowns evil, or do they just seem evil?
