WoL: Repentance (or, first WoL mod ever)
We've done it!!
A friend in the (unofficial) loathing discord server has created the first ever mod for West of Loathing, called West of Loathing Repentance. It is a mod built around Hard Mode, making it... well, harder. To quote the maker of the mod,
Originally posted by The guy who made the mod, Adan Mez:
It will make the game a lot harder. With increased enemy stats, reworked damage calculations, a bit of replayability and more!
I unfortunately cannot link the download to the mod in this post (which makes sense, Valve wouldn't want people posting random downloads in the forums) so the best I can do is link the aforementioned discord server, discord.gg/xvjQFS3MpK.
For more about the mod and our progress with modding in general, you can check in the linked discord as well.

Have a great day and enjoy this breakthrough! :lunar2020ratinablanket:

Is this playable on Linux? via Wine or something?

Great question! I don't know how the game files are structured on Linux, but the modded file is a replacement of Assembly-CSharp.dll. If the Linux build has that file (I'm guessing it doesn't, but you probably know/should check) - then it should be fine. Not sure what Wine is (windows something?) but maybe? I just know what the file to replace is

I personally only made a minor Shadows Over Loathing mod, not WoL Repentance (which was made by a friend of mine, Adan Mez). For my mod (and what I assume Adan did as well, to an extent) I used Unity Asset Bundle Extractor (UABE), edited assets (whether sprites or json files) externally, and injected them back into the game (once again using UABE).
The specifics for more complex modding as was done in Repentance can be found in Adan's modding documentation.
