Stat increase
I'm playing the Switch version but I'll ask this here. Currently I've set the game to automatically level my stats, but is this a good idea? I'm a cow puncher so I want to make sure I'm not wasting points on mysticism or something.

There's an infinite supply of experience points to be had in this game.

Additionally, the way exp costs scale, it's not necessarily a bad thing to end up with points all over the place in the end.

Even Seal Clubbers and Turtle Tamers in KoL ended up with points in mysticality.

But if you don't trust the AI, there's nothing wrong with doing it yourself.

I like to switch around sometimes.

If you're trying to beat a hard battle to advance in the game, try doing it manually to level up your health and stuff.

But if you're just making your way through easy battles without anything like that, you can just leave it to the AI.

At least that's what I do.

I get your point. I'm having an issue now where I grinded some infinite spawns and got my haymaker to level 4, but now my melee damage does crap for damage to most enemies and I'm running into stuff in the second area which can just murder me in one hit. If I run into an encounter with more than one enemy, I'm basically dead unless I abuse dynamite. Against one enemy I will always win thanks to Haymaker.

I'd like to go grind up several of my skills but I feel like that's just going to make the game even harder.

No, turn off auto leveling. It's better to choose what you want to level. Otherwise you'll end up with a weak character when the difficulty jumps up past the mountains.

you dont actually waste it on mysticality, since enemies will use mysticality and if its low, you could die from a mysticality attack

I turn auto off, because I like to prioritize non-combat skills like Outfoxin' and lockpicki' and then the combat skills I use most. Often I sit on my XP a while until I know what I want to level up next.

It's easy to raise the 3 "M" attributes with gear and consummables, so I don't prioritize leveling those up. Right now I am at the final part of the map and I have a base of 12 (about 30 with bonuses) for my primary stat and 6 for the others. With about 4-6 each of the "G" skills.

Eh, I think I'll just toggle it...if I want to raise a specific stat/skill then I'll turn it off for a while.
