Feeding your horse?

How and where can you feed your horse to gain the speed perk, or be able to talk to it as the wiki mentions? Feeling confused.

Maybe if you don't use the Oats from Kellogg's? Never once found an item you can feed the horse except for the beginning quest.

It's possible. There's a perk that if you feed your horse enough apple/carrots it'll give +1 to speed. I just don't know where or how to do it. I think in one of the cities, but haven't figured out which one yet.

ok. You have to give the apples and carrots to your horse in Dirtwater. That's how you get the perk.

How? I've never been prompted to feed him anything.

You need to have apple/carrots in your inventory, and you can only feed the horse while in Dirtwater.

If you haven't unleashed the murder doll, the guy with pinecones selles peanut butter. Feed itto your horse and it will talk. I think what it says varies based on the horse you got.
