I Dropped The Soap

Hi All - Great game, I got a ton of laughs out of just the options menu.

But, I think I screwed up.

On the first quest to get the gang, I tied up Soapy, but didn't ask him to pass the soap first. Now I'm searchin' for the Sherf's goldarnned lock, and I need a bar of soap to trade. I can't find one anywhere.

Do I need to start over?

It just means you can't do stuff with that. There are bits you won't be able to get just because of choices.

Unfortunately, yeah, if you really want to get the soap you'll need to do it on a different character. This is disappointing enough folks that I think we may make it possible to get the soap post-arrest in a future patch?

I think the disappointment comes from the fact you can clearly see the soap and the only person who could stop you from getting it is already tied up. It's not as clear you are making a choice as with the other situations.

Thanks for the replies. I wouldn't say it's disappointing so much as leaving me at a loss: I've done every darn thing I can do in B.S. and am short meat to buy a hoss. I've done all the errands I can do, searched everywhere, talked to everyone, and I have about 840 meat.

So, I can't advance the game. (I think...perhaps I'm missing something?)

You get 1000 meat for finding all the horses.

Talk to the horse salesman and he'll give you a quest plus access to three new areas.

You can buy soap from a wandering salesperson.

I just wish I could just grab the soap out of the tub regardless if I ask him to pass it or not.

I'd actually assumed that it would be left behind in the tub after he was arrested. That, or that he'd have it with him in jail. Lots of confused wandering until I realized that I could get the needed meat from the horse guy.

If you are stuck and need to add the soap to your inventory you can modify your save game.

1. Exit game
   
2. Locate save file (on my machine it is C:\Users\robin\AppData\LocalLow\Asymmetric Software\West of Loathing)
   
3. !!! Take a backup of your save file !!!
   
4. Add this json to the list of items
