First of all, you would probably be safer if you just avoid enemies althogether - it's easy to do, since none of them pursue you much farther than their original spawn location. As long as you spam "strafe left/right" when you encounter anything, you should be good to go.
Second, there's a safe way to earn mysteries for repairs without fighting - dive into the black hole-like circular darkness that appears randomly around the map, and you'll be rewarded with a mystery..
Regarding repairs in general, there's a better way to do it if you have a bit of money - head to the south end of the map and find the London embassy there. You'll be able to repair and also hand over your port reports for money as opposed to mysteries.
All in all, I think your best bet would be to leave Eleutheria and return to the Reach to earn a bit more money before diving back. You can dash your way across the entire location and escape enemies if you don't engage into fighting and just ignore everyone. The path back to the Reach is next to the London embassy, at the very southern end of the map..
First: London Embassy is NOT necessarily on the south. The spawm is random. It is on the north for me. One good way to get a random hint on its position is to go to Pan (always on the middle of the map) and hope that a deal in the bazar will ask you to go to the Embassy.
Deals always give you the direction of ports, so if there is one for the Embassy you are golden. Otherwise try searching in a direction where there is no port you already discovered, starting with straight North and straight South. The embassy should be in the Belt of Midnight (at least for me), which is a dark zone with purple lightning.
Second: the black holes can gives you good stuff, but they can also spawn Undeparted. They are dangerous to deal with if you have a bad locomotive, even when you run away. If you really need mysteries, I'd rather give port reports to the king in Pan. But if you struggle with Eleuthelaria, the best way is to get the f- away for now by finding the embassy and coming back later.
Third: Some enemies in Eleutheria react to your lights. The ships with their light OFF won't attack you if you lights are OFF. The ships with the light ON won't attack you if your lights are ON. The grivers (green rock thingy) will generally leave you alone if you don't wake them by staying around too long or flashing your light at them for too long. For the rest just run away and use your side thrusters when needed.
Fourth: If your music turns creepy, get out of this zone. You won't find anything useful if you are already struggling. The Embassy should not be here.
Fifth: If you find Scraps of Ancient Knowledge, you can trade them at Pan for mysteries. You can find them on floating libraries around Eleutheria. Small chance of spawning a Scrive-Spinser when you get it, but they are nowhere as annoying as Undeparted, you can just run away easily.
Last thing I forgot, just so you are prepared: Getting out will cost you 200 gold or 3 cartes of munitions. Would be stupid to get to the relay and not be able to pay your trip home ;)
