Weapon and modules discussion
After completing the capitain's ambition around 4 times so far i've realized that the best min-maxing in stats is to invest all you can in Hearts and ditch Iron completely. This is mainly to the 2 best weapons in the game being Hearts related: Tears of Astolat and the Wrath of the Heavens.

What are these things? Heavy weapons. Tears of Astolat is, as far as i've tried, the best machinegun in the game even comparing it to Saintfire. Why? Same damage/heat ration but it has more range and ludicrous knockback that will allow you to pin down an enemy against a wall and mow it down with it until it dies or your heat goes off.

The wrath of the heavens doesn't need much explanation. The most brutal single shot weapon, dealing 50 damage on a direct hit and 40 AOE damage. And yes, it works like a rocket launcher and you can detonate the projectile remotely if you see you are going to miss, still salvaging that 60 heat shot.

Using both at the same time with the Medea Class Destroyer, you can take down a normal Dreadnaught with it being incapable of firing off a shot against you.

After this exposition i want to ask people weapon differences when it comes to functionality. I already know Vala is still a great small armament that only requires 50 mirrors and most good stuff in the game requires either veils or mirrors. That paired with the fact that Iron dependent modules are negligeble by using other slightly sub par modules dependant on other stats and that important iron checks are quite scarce, i always dicth Iron in favour of everything else.

Also, anyone has any favourites when it comes to modules and weapons for regular fighting and exploring? Because with 75 hearts you can also use the Watchers in Azure for that sweet 16 extra hull and free Assaying module.

Playing again and AGAIN trying to get the tears in the revamped Albion (last time i tried was on the previous map ver.). ^_^'
Noticed that the DD now are all around...any good suggestion of whats the best sub-zone to farm em? (On the previous version was hunting deranged dreads on the zone where the eyed flukes emerge, which was filled with em). Thanks in advance :)

Best place to farm them is the Floating Parliament. You have guaranteed 2 DDs around that area. If the parliament is close to Brabazon even better because there is always one roaming Brabazon. Don't even bother going to the Clockwork Sun or the Yuxta-Mare. So far, i only found Glorious Dreadnaughts and Star Seared Explorers in the Sun and Scorn Flukes in the Fog.

Also, around the Parliament you will also find Infested Dreadnaughts if you are trying to farm The Uninvited.

iron is really weak, its a shame

The weapons are all mixed up generally, missiles ought to be for mirrors and mines for veils
All iron gets is the silly shotguns, and the T4 version of that is disastrously underpowered
Pielord May 1, 2019 @ 7:21am
The shotguns are awfully bad, mainly because you have to be upclose to the target to get the most damage out of it. Why bet on that when you have far more reliable weapons like Vala? And even if you miss, a rocket blast is far better than relying on the shotgun blast.

Still, Iron only gives access to certain very powerful modules. But like i said, they are negigeble. Why use the Rose and Adamant plating for 33 hull when you can use the Crew Containment that gives 13 hull and extra crew? or the Durable plating that increases your hold by 4? It's just that Iron modules don't give as many benefits as others that are far more fuctional.

Thanks for the advice! Got both zones kinda close to each other, so will hunt em around there. And didnt noticed that the infested dreads dropped a guest themed weapon! Will hunt em for it now too ha! X3

They don't drop the weapon. You have to hunt infested vessels and get the option to capture guests in order to make the weapon. You have to defeat 3 infested locomotives in order to make the Uninvited, which is a fairly decent shotgun type weapon that requires 25 hearts to use. Good in the beginning due to its higher damage and rage compared to other shotgun type weapons, but has slower proyectile speed and shoots only 3 proyectiles

Really? I found it to be completely garbage. It's got similar damage:heat efficiency to the maurauder mangonel, except that damage is split between 3 projectiles that all go in completely random directions. Especially since I got the mangonel first, there was zero reason for me to use it.

And that is completely true. I usually don't even bother with the Uninvited because shotgun type weapons are complete trash and you can kill infested ships for far more valuable rewards than a crappy weapon. But if you really wanna try shotguns, this is by far one of the best IMO.

Also, Marauder Mangonel is the best tier 1 weapon despite having slow proyectiles and the inmense heat. It's far more worth it to kill something in 1-2 shots and being overheated than taking 5 shots

If only it had homing missiles, but those random shots are so bad...

Such is the way with shotgun type weapons. They suck a lot because of random shots and if you want to deal max damage, you need to be as close as possible to the enemy. Worthy of note, the Uninvited like Guest projectiles does chip damage if the projectiles die out right before hitting the ovjective.

So far, the only homing projectiles are only from rocket type weapons (Albertine candle and Her Renewed Majesty's Jubilee), which slightly chase after the enemy.
